Source close to me says LeBron to Chicago

These are the things that make moderators and administrators think about retiring.

Some of them apparently do more than just think about it, slacker.

Well, given that I was the second longest owner back at BBB (the now departed for elsewhere truebluefan having about 4 months on me) and depite tbf's staying on as a consultant longer and thereby dwarfing my administrator run, I think I still have the second longest admin tenure there and then put in a few years helping out over here, I think I'm entitled to at least a (lengthy) coffee break and sanity check. We'll see what the future holds.

Meanwhile, I see that in that time you've managed to get your post count over 400. Rock on!

I don't mean to be a dick to anyone here. I will say this, it has been my experience that Doug does have some real contacts around the Bulls and they know who he is as far as a poster and a blogger. I also know Doug has repeatedly *not* passed on rumors in the past because they seemed far fetched or poorly sourced. Its one thing to join realgm, post a stupid "sourced" rumor and never be heard from again. As Doug notes, he is going to hear it for quite some time if this turns out not to be true. He has significant incentive to not relay this information.

So, if Doug posts something like this, he didn't do it for attention and he didn't do it lightly and he does have legit sources. I suspect his sources have just as much credibility as Stephen A Smith, who has got a ton of attention.

Personally, I'm still not "all in". Even if Lebron is heavily leaning towards Chicago and this report is true, this is not a done deal. Stuff can change quickly.

Yep I've (finally) started completely dismissing any reports that include 'done deal' or 'forgone conclusion'.

Simmons says, "I think lebron signs with the bulls, Bosh signs with the bulls, and they trade Deng to the Hawks for Joe Johnson, and the NBA is over for the next 10 years."

Then Ford reponds...

"I'm not sure about Joe Johnson. But I wish I could talk about a particular source I have, but who is the most credible source I've talked to, who believes that's exactly what's going to happen."

And he goes on to say that Jordan's legacy is actually a DRAW for James, that he always sits at the same table and gets the same waiter as Jordan when he goes to Gibson's in Chicago and told this waiter to reserve the table for him and is coming to Chicago.

Ford also says that he takes the statement at that rally in Akron for Lebron when he says he does everything for Akron, without any mention of Cleveland or Ohio, as a clear message that he is leaving.

You're highly respected in this community and I know that anyone that has been around here longer than 6 months knows your intentions. Plus you gave me free playoff tickets like 5 years ago and it was the game Hinrich hit that long 3 at the end to beat the Heat and tie up their series and it was awesome so no complaints here

I don't think that's a new podcast, I think that's at least dated a few days. Someone yesterday on this board posted a youtube video that was like a recap of all things LeBron to Chicago related from various outlets, and in that video it had those direct exerpts from that podcast. I'm not saying that info is wrong, because I got really excited when I heard that too, I just don't think it's a podcast that was just posted.

However, why by the 3rd? What's the point of the date? Is LeBron going to walk away on the 4th? Are we? Date seems odd to me, however it give the report more legitimacy.

with all joking aside, I trust Doug more than I trust SAS. They probably both believe their source but who believes their source is worth making a mention of another rumor. Who has the most confidence in their source and whose source is worth having that confidence. I'll go with Doug on this one.

I checked - the Simmons-Ford podcast was posted on Friday and was clearly taped that day since it is post-draft. So that makes it old news in this crazy world, but still relevant, I think.

A source who's provided accurate information to me in the past has told me that LeBron James will agree to terms with the Bulls by July 3rd after meeting with other teams.

How serious to take this? I'm wondering the same thing myself. If I thought it was completely dismissible I certainly wouldn't post it just to get ridiculed as an attention whore for years, but the amount of false rumors I've heard (even from good sources) is remarkably high.

So in short, I'm not attempting to stake my claim on this one. I don't consider myself some great purveyor of inside sources and information by any stretch. Just passing along something I've heard.
