My point is that WCJ is a role player. Lauri is too. Thats my "hot take" on them.

So you would have traded Harden, Steph, Klay, Draymond, Giannis, Jokic, Beal, Kawhi, Jimmy Butler and a host of other players who didn’t look like stars by year 2.

Context, says hello.

I don’t know what you’re trying to say. What is the context?

Just parachuting in but the context looks pretty obvious to me. especially with Lauri.

I view lauri as having a lower ceiling than I had him pegged with after year 1. He has shown no ability to create his own shot.

My ceiling on Carter hasn't changed yet, I still have faith that he has much more to offer.

His ceiling hasn’t lowered, just the likelihood of him reaching it.

What would be fastest way to get Lauri out of the team because he doesn't have much trade value.
So would it be better just waive him and hope that some other NBA team is enough stupid to claim him on waivers.

Channing Frye Jr will be out of the NBA in a couple of years if he doesn’t toughen up and lose that Euro softness.

He doesn’t have any leverage to demand his location.

I don't know what Lauri's been going through, but he's been off mentally.

Sure. It’s the typical Euro softness game that Andrea Barganani played during his days with the Dinosaurs:

1) Drifting behind the three point line shooting threes instead of having a diverse offensive game
2) Sub 8 board per game as a big man
3) Terrible rim protector
4) Injury prone

I wouldn’t mind him playing this weak soft game if he’s shouting threes at Curry elite level. But if your stroke isn’t on that level, you better contribute in other areas. Otherwise, you’re nothing more than at best a Channing Frye player off the bench.

1) His best asset is his shooting, hence why he takes a lot of 3s but he's shown he's capable of scoring in other ways he just needs to do it consistently. Let's not forget he's only 22.
2) That doesn't equate to being soft.
3) That doesn't equate to being soft.

Typical Euro softness? This is such garbage, you do realise players in the NBA can't handle physicality and whine accordingly right? Paul George and the US complaining about Australia's physical defense at the Olympics comes to mind.

I can go on and on. But I was one of his biggest supporters but he’s done in my book until he sacks up and takes command of this team.

Also, a typical Euro softness is a player shrinking his nuts when the opponent starts to get physical. When Lauri is getting hot, the only thing that you need to do is play close to him and grab his jersey. Lauri will start rushing his shots and laying up bricks.

Oh, Lauri is courageous by driving to the lane. You just need to knock him on his ass for a few times and he will park his buff behind the three point line for the rest of the game. Lauri playing in the post is a guaranteed 3-4 extra offensive rebounds above the norm to the opponent.

He’s 22 and regressing and deserves all the criticism thrown at his way. He’s nothing more than a fringe NBA starter on arguably a top 5 worst team in the NBA.

I think Lauri will blossom under a better coach. I’d trade him this in draft night if Boylen is back though.

Didn't see this garbage until now.

Like I've already said this is just incredibly stupid and incorrect, you're attributing this to European players when the majority of American players do this regularly even the "superstars" in the NBA.

After this garbage season, I would be open to drafting Wiseman as our C for the future with WCJ at pf. Lauri can be a bench player unless he has an attitude change.

Why would we move Carter from C? He's already one of the better defending C's in the league.

I personally think that the way to unlock WCJ with his combination of height, length, strength, and speed would be at pf.

We don't need to accommodate Lauri in anything. We need to put WCJ at the position that will best optimize his success. In my opinion, that is at pf especially when WCJ unlocks his jumper.

Carter could have played the 4 back in the days where guys like Dale and Antonio Davis, PJ Brown, Otis Thorpe, Charles Oakley, etc. played the 4.

Those days are gone.

Lauri is not a C. Hopefully people can see that from these extended minutes at C with WCJ out. He's especially not a C on a hobbled ankle.

Yeah. The modern PF is, more or less, a shooter and should also be able to handle the ball.

Carter has shown zero ability to play the 4 in the modern NBA. Even Lauri's ballhandling leaves a LOT to be desired at that position. He must get better.

Best possible post.

It seems like there is a mass denial that WCJ is only 6-9.

It started even before he was drafted with him being falsely listed as 6-10. He is actually shorter than Felicio. How many 6-9 starting centers can you find in the league today?

It's also clear that Gar/Pax have imposed a block on him playing PF because Boylen (with all of the loses) won't even dare to experiment with WCJ playing together with Gafford.

And last year the same was true with RoLo.

In any case, one of Lauri or WCJ has to go for this team to have a chance of winning.

======================================
James Wiseman

In a different draft Wiseman would be the #1 pick. I'd be overjoyed if the Bulls got him.

He is a true 7-1, is strong and has huge hands that are like glue (he can easily rebound with one hand).

I laugh at the premise on threads that compare 2 non-allstars who play different positions and are still both on rookie deals.

Is either guy the best or 2nd best player on a contender right now? NO

Will both guys get better? YES

IMO, trading either guy as part of a package for a top 10 NBA player should always be on the table. Trading either guy because they "don't work as a pairing" makes less sense to me because I think they have complementary skill sets.
