It does make me wonder about the recent press on retaining Boylen for financial reasons. Was it a leak to force Reinsdorf's hand? :-)

In a sense he was handcuffed because it took this long to make a pretty obvious decision. I think AK fires Boylen immediately if he could. Nonetheless this is great news and the Bulls can focus on bringing in the right coach.

He is a high school level coach. That’s where he should land. He has failed at both the college and NBA levels. He has a lot of money so he should be fine. In my opinion he is lucky to have even had this opportunity to coach at this level. Completely under qualified for the job.

He's gonna get paid a million and a half bucks to not coach the team, there's worse things that could happen to a person.

Oh man, he is the worst to me. The way he treated people across the board was just awful. I mean just watching youtube of his outbursts at University of Utah was enough. I know the Bulls have had crappy coaching, but Boylen was just a jerk. It is one thing to be a bad coach, it is another to be a bad coach and verbally treat peeps crappy to cover up how bad of a coach you are and be treated like you are good from previous administration.

I have no problem with them being deliberate in their decision making. I realize that will annoy a faction of Bulls fan but I rather AKME take their time and make the right call over rushing into a situation and getting it wrong.

Good riddance, he was out of his depth.

Here's hoping the new guy will actually be good.

Wasn't Fleming the guy ostensibly in charge of the worst aspect of our team? I'm curious why he should be kept.

There have been leaks out there, that Fleming did not release full O based on what Boylen was doing and also not letting him fully implement.

Correct, Reinsdorf wanted an emphasis placed on analytics and Boylen (and, in turn, Fleming) followed it to a T.
Working on becoming Titletown:

Bulls - 6
Blackhawks - 6

The other part of this is that our analytics department is seemingly run by a J-School grad.

We need to flush these people out.

Now, if he makes single big mistake I can see his role getting reduced or fired bc hes about to make Jerry very uncomfortable by spending tens of millions extra money. He better find hidden gems like mpj bol from yr1.

I think you're going easy on AK here. Only MPJ and Bol? He better find another Jokic in this upcoming draft, or just fire the guy!

The main takeaway for me is that this proves yet again most media sources have no clue what's going inside the Chicago FO, which is more tightly guarded than most.

Cowley, Windhorst, and Woj were all wrong about predicting how Chicago would handle coaching. They all had no legitimate insider source, so they just went with the "well chicago is cheap, if I write they'll keep Boylen I'll probably end up looking smart."

Everyone should take any Chicago FO rumors with a grain of salt.

This is the kind of day that would bring Jack Finn back.
Constantly underwhelmed by the Bulls.
