I facepalm so hard whenever an internet docs sidles into the spotlight to offer a diagnosis over twitter. Just stop, man. You are not on the treatment team. You did not review the MRI. You did not perform the physical, or obtain the history.

Sounds like it, eh? Good thing medical diagnoses follow logically from our original assumptions and observations. Only experienced practitioners have learnt that lesson!

Medical teams can misdiagnose injuries as well.

That tells me that this is super minor/very quick healing.

I hope that you're right, because I confess this tells me nothing. We have already gone throug this cycle of oops Zach's knee is sore, so he will sit out, hey good news it doesn't seem to be serious, he is coming back, oops Zach's knee seems to be sore again. I think that nobody knows, this is something that Zach, the team, and the doctors can only guess at.

So Vuc is basically confirming that he spoke to Lavine last night and per his conversation, seems like nothing serious and just need some rest.

He should be back next week Thursday most likely, if not then week after at most - atleast that's what it seems to me.

Yeah, I think at this point resting through the ASB trumps all activities Zach May want to participate in. If he needs an additional week or two after the ASB then so be it.

I mean, he's more than an "internet doctor" as he is an actual doctor and would be well versed in the field. That being said, without actually seeing Zach and based on the information presented, based on experience the answer given is what it could possibly be. No harm in that. :dontknow:

I just hope this isn’t an issue with Zach. If it is this might be the beginning of him losing his greatest strength which is his athleticism. Still a very good player obviously but a lingering knee issue could slow him down a bit. Even a small discomfort will effect his game.We ll see…

Coach Billy Donovan said Monday there was no word yet on whether LaVine will participate in the All-Star Game on Sunday in Cleveland.

An MRI on LaVine’s left knee in January found no structural damage, but he has had intermittent swelling in the knee that Donovan described as “mild.”

“The biggest issue for him right now is he has soreness in his knee, but he swells after games sometimes and sometimes he doesn’t,” Donovan said. “Getting to the bottom of some of that stuff (is important to him). They obviously have done imaging. He is cleared to play. There is discomfort there. He doesn’t feel great.”

Donovan said LaVine decided to see a specialist he’s familiar with from his days with the Minnesota Timberwolves, when he had ACL surgery on the knee in February 2017. LaVine felt discomfort in the knee after Friday’s game against the Timberwolves, and Donovan said LaVine wanted the physician to “take a deeper dive” on the knee to pinpoint the reasons for the swelling and give him some “peace of mind” going forward.

I believe lavine knee issues are related to this brutal schedule. Just need some rest

Schedule is pretty much the same all the time. Its the knee, old injured knee.. Plus very athletic style of playing.. Not much to blame on schedule here

Disagree, because of the makeup games from the COVID pause this has been very grueling. I believe 25 games in 39 days and not a single stretch where they've had 2 straight days off since the first week of January. Then you factor in because of injuries the Bulls remaining rotation players are playing extra minutes and exerting extra effort when on the floor because the g-league guys are not going to be making up for DeRozan's scoring load for instance. They have to be exhausted right now.

Just picking another random team, the Celtics have played 21 games during that same stretch with 3 stretches of 2+ days off in a row.

I know this sounds like an incredibly minor procedure but any work done on the knee worries me irrationally.

From Cody Westerlund's article on BD's news on Zach:

Lavine will be eligible to participate in All-Star weekend, Donovan said while adding those plans will be sorted out after further meetings with doctors. LaVine is scheduled to participate in the 3-point contest Saturday and the All-Star Game on Sunday, health willing.

“There may be something like, ‘Hey, this is a wise choice on number of minutes’ or things like that,” Donovan said. “I don’t think Zach has any expectation to try to go to an All-Star Game and try to play 30 minutes. I don’t think that, but certainly it’s a great honor for him to be able to do that for the second year. He is healthy to play.”

LaVine had an initial scare with his left knee on Jan. 14, when he exited early in a game due to discomfort. An MRI the next day revealed no significant structural damage, but soreness and at times swelling persisted when he returned after missing five games.

When LaVine returns for the Bulls, his minutes will likely be managed to some degree, Donovan said, as will his availability for back-to-back sets.

“The doctors, all of them, don’t feel like he’s in harm’s way in continuing to play,” Donovan said.

It is worrisome that his knee has been an item of discussion the past month or so. Thankfully, it hasn't been anything worse like another tear.

Going to enjoy the fact he's okay and do my best not to worry about stuff that hasn't happened. So far we've had good fortune that it wasn't a season ending injury and more like maintenance.

Do prefer he just rests and chills at all-star weekend even though he was cleared to play. Zach knows a lot is at stake here with a contract looming so I'm glad he decided to get a 2nd opinion. Going to trust the specialist here and go from there.
