He’s a more ferocious dunker than Lauri is

He’s really nothing like Mike Dunleavy

First comp that came to my mind was Aleksej Pokuševski. Skinny, too skinny.

PERSONALLY, I think he has a good build and should be able to put on some muscle weight. We'll see I guess

I don't get caught up in positions. Giddey will have the ball in his hands on offense but on defense he'll be on the weakest offensive opposing player.

Disagree.

Similar size and build
Both had v. good handles for their size
both had good hops
Dunleavy was a better shooter? But a bit inconsistent
Actually, I think it's a pretty good comp

Love this pick. AKME finally didnt screw up a draft and didnt pick up a Guard

I have been watching a couple of different highlight videos and here is my breakdown of what I see.

For a 3 he is a great rebounder, one of those guys who can grab the rebound and go full court for the slam.

Loves to block shots, had 2 blocks a game in the G League. That shows a lot because they play the NBA style
and have NBA level athletics. You know he will either block the shot or at least contest the shot.

Great cutter and rim runner. High IQ

Needs to work on his body, think he can be even more explosive in a couple years.

Was a solid shooter in the mid range. Even has a solid post up Dirk fadeaway but really needs to get more
consistent in his shot from mid range and 3.

Overall think he can grow into a better Franz Wagner once he builds his body and becomes a consistent shooter.

Really looking forward to the new look uptempo Bulls. Giddy/White/Buzelis/Williams/Vuc with Ayo/Phillips off the bench.
Let DDR walk and trade Lavine. If possible trade Vuc. I would extend Giddy/Williams for 4/80 each.

but I think he'll be able to put on more meat than Dunleavy. Dunleavy had narrow shoulders

MB is a shot blocker

Better and stronger finisher than MD

More athletic and has much better bounce

I don’t see the similarities. He’s closer to Chet than he is to Mike Dunleavy

The guy's most notable skill is shotblocking he was 4th in the league in BPG and called an early dunk contest possibility, and the comp is Mike Dunleavy?

I think you are short selling MD. He was tough and a decent finisher. Not as bouncy? But close

I keep seeing people call Josh Giddey a forward

He is NOT a forward. AK just said it out of his own mouth

I'm so excited for this pick. The no. 1 guy I wanted.

He'll be a bench guy to start the year whilst he works out his role and the NBA game, he needs to get in the weight room and work hard with Peter Patton.

I scared my poor 4yo son when they picked him, I was so hyped.

I've been pretty opposed to the idea of Matas has a prospect throughout the lead up to the draft.

I gues my hope is that the Ignite were more to blame as an organization that their collection on talent that lost pretty much every game and featured highly touted players putting up poor stats - Matas included.

The comps are running wild in here - right now we have a very skinny (how are you 6'10" and weight less than 200 pounds), shot-blocking, high-flyer.

I don't know what that comp is? Bigger Derrick Jones Jr?

Matas has a lot to work on, will be interesting to see how that development is handled as the way we've done that with players to date is all over the place - from the entitlement minutes for Williams to the G-league treatment for Terry and others. I hope for a happy medium - we'll see.

Shooting coach Patton's got his work cut out for him between Giddey and Buzelis. Time to earn that money and reputation.

I know everyone is eager to be rid of the mid-3 but someone has to score the ball, and ideally do so efficiently. There's no better candidate to handle that load on this team right now than Zach LaVine still.

Welcome to Chicago Matas - time to get to work. We'll be rooting for you!

Giddey is a guard who's big enough to allow us to play two guard sized players alongside him
