What do rings have to do with anything in this context? Look at it objectively, Chicago has been on another level compared to the Knicks just the past 4 years. The Bulls, with their team and their front office, have shown a remarkable degree of consistency, stability, and have managed to maintain a certain level of performance regardless of circumstances, injuries, etc.

The Knicks have just been a complete mess. If they're not trading half the roster away one year, they're firing a coach in another or somehow still not managing to make the playoffs in a historically awful eastern conference

Well rings do play into this. If the bulls were in the finals recently then melo could make the argument that he is the piece to put them over the top. The Knicks have been a mess the last year admittedly. However we just changed regimes. You cannot overlook the fact that the coach and mastermind with the most rings ever is running our franchise. You guys have own way more games the last 2 years than you should of thibs has done an amazing job but is he seriously better than pjax? Of all teams you should give us credit on that one

I might be excited if that guy got rings running the Bulls, or any organization. But does anyone think Jerry West or Jerry Krause were deferring to Phil on personnel?

They talked with Phil regarding making the trade for Dennis...does that count?

Is that because Broolyn-ites all have a 7 year old's idea of regional loyalty?

You guys have a good team a good coach and a style I enjoy but it's not like you have rings lately or anything.

How is the ring factor pertinent in context with the Knicks, who suck, and aren't even going to pretend to not suck as part of their pitch to Melo? We actually have the players on the roster that we need to sell Melo.

The only rings you guys have are being worn by the guy running our team.

And the guy running our team. And our coach.

Minot hostile at all this is more about melo I completely understand why you guys would feel good and want him. I think you are our only competition. As a true New Yorker can't wrap my head around this

I agree that its down to the Knicks and Bulls, and I have the Knicks at about an 80 to 20 favorite.

It's a stretch I know
Kris Bryant will go down as the greatest Chicago athlete after MJ

Is Thibs a better coach than Phil is a Pres of Basketball Operations? I don't know - Phil has never done his job before.

If I was them, I would cling to any shred of hope too, because the recent past sure hasn't been promising for them.

I hope Phil does turn you guys around, the NBA isnt the same without the Knicks (and the Celtics) being relevant

you guys are always changing regimes, thats my point. 3 out of the 4 years that Melo has been a Knick, you guys are either massively changing the starting line up or you're firing the head coach/GM

How can any player succeed in such an unstable environment?

July and August we don't even leave our homes. Its too dangerous. I've had the skin melt off my face just running from the air conditioned garage to the end of the driveway to get the trashcans.

This I can agree with. If somebody asks me to do something outside during those months they usually get this

Yes and no. PJ is an unknown quantity as a GM. And his first coaching hire leaves a lot to be desired. If Dolan stays out of his way- and gives him enough time- I suspect he will eventually right the ship- but he has to learn on the job- as does Fisher.

Dwight is depressed because if Melo comes he knows that means he gets less shots

Dwight feels good about the pitch! Gave interview on his way to pick up greyhound bus so he can pick up his kids from school.

Dwight must get one hell of a 'sibling' discount at daycare. Must be why he was willing to turn down that guaranteed 5th year money from LA.

Houston threw in a free vasectomy.

Defense does not win championships but it helps. You can't win a ring in the NBA today only scoring 70 points in games. That's not going to cut it against the elite teams. It's about buckets and defense.
