And, penalties.

They are playing against a practice squad

The screens worked well last week. Odunze missed his block on this one. They're trying to get the ball out of his hands fast, not a bad idea. No one thought the offense would become good overnight. But at least we saw progress the last two games.
I still don’t like the volume of screens. I don’t really notice that much from the really successful offenses. They have plenty of quick passes, but they mostly come on the plus side of the line of scrimmage

Keeping them to a FG here would be a moral victory.

That's what Flus should be doing - protecting the QB instead of doing meaningless challenges.fleet wrote:Caleb was hit out of bounds on that 3rd and 14 no call
Waldrons offensive playbook wasn't bad. It came from McVay which everyone here clamored for. Waldron just didn't know how to call a game.Dresden wrote:patryk7754 wrote:I know we’ve been hyped about the offense but I think it’s still a bad one. TB does and his playbook is the same as they both came from the same tree. I would like to see less screens and more slants over the middle to get the ball out quick, but i can't complain overall.
2 days ago folks were talking about TB as the next head coach and now after 1 quarter they also can't wait to get rid of him too. Show patience and see what the rest of the season shows, one way or the other.

They blitz at last, and get the sack!

Other than Williams, I think Dexter has displayed himself as the most promising thing about this team. He’s been great and consistent all year and maybe our best pass rusher. I still think we could use another high level DT and have Billings play more of a complementary role but we have a bright future for the interior of the DL I love

I wonder if one reason they don't go over ht middle more is that Caleb has trouble seeing over the line, and getting passes batted down.

I would love to see them add another big run stuffer inside. Too often teams are running right thru us.

Re: Bears 8.0: Season being flushed down the drain
This is going pretty well imo.
(1) Flus already looking stupid with yet another failed challenge.
(2) Flus showing again big digression in what even I thought was a great ability on defense allowing Det to rip him apart in TOO, yards, three red zone trips on just three possessions (although some credit for only 13 points against this team)
(3) Looking like an embarrassment on National TV
Maybe, just maybe we are setting up enough for a post-Thanksgiving firing.
This will be better though if we can see Caleb start firing and figuring out the D, T Brown get some flow going on offense.
(4) I have Detroit kicker so couple red zone stops is selfishly sweet!

That was really poor on Caleb. On 2nd down he had all day to throw, and he throws it to DJ who is covered like a blanket. Then on 3rd down he had Odunze for the first down, and misses the throw by 6'. Drive killers. He's got to be better.

Don’t know how Warren could see this direct comparison of teams and not be ready to fire everyone

Waldrons offense deviates from mcvays kind of significantly. One of the main things about mcvays offenses is quick simple routes. Waldron does the opposite.
My statement isn’t a criticism f brown. I don’t expect him to completely rebuild the offense. He was always going to have the same playbook. He’s done significantly better calling plays and seemingly done an even better job of coaching the offense up during the week. But the playbook still sucks. I think he’s definitely displayed HC material already, when you consider all the great things said about him. My point is that I just don’t want this offense next season, in any form. I think brown has proven himself to be at least a decent play caller and I think that could translate to any offensive system (Ben Johnson’s)
