Asik is not even close. Noah better be bringing us one hell of a scorer if we're content with Asik being our starting center of the future.
Is he so much worse than Perkins, who Boston won a title with in 08, averaging 6.9 points a game? I don't think so. Chandler for Dallas was a little more competent but really has no offensive moves either.
Dirk/Chandler... Mirotic/Asik ... Hmmm? Lol, ok that's a stretch, but they didn't have D Rose either.
I'm not saying trading Jo is something that sounds desirable, but I don't see us getting no Eric Gordon in FA either. He's not even a max quality player and he just got a max offer from PHX, which will likely be matched by the Hornets. Doubtful Bulls would be able to clear the space necessary for the perfect player down the line even with letting Asik go. And if we did, we would be overpaying huge for that guy too.
When this team trades talent for money in hand and 'flexibility' I get worried, because flexibility just seems like this endless vague phrase that gets kicked on down the road for years and years. If we have to be a great team for Jerry to commit to tax, we'll we've been that for 2 years. Getting weaker by losing Omer and other depth, we might never be this close again, and thus never pass the trigger that makes this team spend the money to go there. Something that committing to Asik pretty much forces us to do and to enter that arena as a high paying team with the other big boys.
