While Carmelo Anthony gave off the impression if would not be easy to leave NY, he also said in Rockets meeting his 1st priority is to win.

Bulls

Winning (easier path) = go to the east = Bulls
Winning (harder path) = go to the West = Rockets

Thought the same thing. The tone in their voices didn't seem convincing. I'm cautiously optimistic they didn't deliver a good pitch.

I wonder what their pitch to Howard was...you can be a clown, choke in the playoffs, & we'll still love.

For one, McHale isn't the same appeal to Melo as it is Dwight.

And most likely, Melo ain't getting a max like Dwight either.
Kris Bryant will go down as the greatest Chicago athlete after MJ

To add on maybe he just found out he got another kid.

This proves my point that New York fans are some of the most intelligent thoughtful people.

Of course rings matter here and the reality is that a Championship in NYC would mean more for his legacy than a 7th trophy for Chicago.

Phil knows, he was ON the last team that won a trophy in NYC.
All educated NBA fans are familiar with the name Willis Reed almost 40 years later because he won in NYC.
No one talks about the '75 Warriors or the '78 Bullets titles or even the Bucks '71 championship with Kareem.

The lure of winning in NYC this is so strong it brought Phil out of retirement.
Melo spent a year brokering a trade there so he could play in the mecca.

If I was Melo and being from the NYC area, that is where I'd want to win.
If I'm a NYC fan this would be like Rose bailing on us - esp after we just signed Phil Jackson to right the ship.

He's crazy if he leaves, money on the table and a pariah in the biggest city in the country.
Bulls/Knicks are big ratings games on TV. Does he really want to spend the afternoon being booed out of NYC?

The meeting was 6 hours because Morey spent 4 explaining the convuluted six team S&T deals that will create the Lowry, Melo, Parsons, Harden, Howard super team.
Honesty is my only excuse.

If Melo really cares about winning. Then the fact that the Bulls brass drove home the point that the east is up for the taking really helps our chances.

It even validates the reports that he's willing to take less in order to keep Butler and Gibson in Chicago.

You're not gonna win championships giving up 103 ppg either which the Rockets did.

PPG isn't really the best indicator of team defense. Teams play at different paces. The Rockets run and score so much that teams are going to get more attempts and points as a result. When you look at opponents fg% the Rockets were 7th in the league. They are far from a great defensive team but they are above average with Howard in the middle.

True but that kind of pace that the Rockets play (with no other gear to go to) is a difficult way to win in the playoffs. Ask the Warriors, Clippers, etc.

You will never win a chip if the best player does all this crap.

Well no ****, you cant be putrid offensively. Defense does win championships. History speaks for itself

When you say defense can win championships show me a NBA champ that won it all without out scoring its opponent? What you're saying is cliche. You're putting the cart before the horse. It's like trying to have a baby with no male and female interaction lol... its not gonna happen. You need both, and for the life of me I can't understand why more fans don't get this. Its not rocket science. That is why you're going after Melo is it not, to help you guys score more points?

Will probably cost McDermott, Mirotic, Butler, and 4 first round picks.

Really? Weird. How about 55 points per game? Can you win a championship by scoring 12 points and allowing the opposition to score 587 points? I'm not clear on this.

Can we not just give them Boozer + future picks in a S&T? MoneyMitch seems like he has interest in the Bulls board.
