We just make a team in our conference so much stronger if we deal with the Celtics. And with the Cavs still having a handful of years of success being likely, we probably wouldn't have built a team, and the young stars (if the rookies end up being stars), and for them to mature into playoff winning players, we are looking at the playoffs in the 4th or 5th year at best, because our team would be mostly young players and trash.

It scares me because we've been there, and could very well still be there if we didn't totally luck out on Derrick. And by be there, meaning a crappy team with no real optimism of getting ourselves out.

We'll be really lucky if it's only 5 years.

At this point, I'm just hoping for the best return as possible, because I'll be surprised if Jimmy is on the team next season.

We wouldn't be swapping picks with the Nets, Boston would.

But if we was to receive the Nets pick(s) if Butler was traded, we'd be doing the swapping.

Uhhh, no, that's not how it works.

Do you really think that if Boston traded the pick to Golden State, the Nets would get screwed and have to take the Warriors pick?

No, they would still be doing the swapping, and then give us the pick.

No, actually Snell is posting almost identical numbers to what he produced the last 3 years.

Any uptick would be expected from a guy going from his 3rd year to his 4th year.

Rumor mill: There are rival executives who believe the Bulls and Celtics will rekindle trade talks centered on Jimmy Butler before the Feb. 23 deadline. The teams held serious talks in June, and the Celtics own the same assets — Jae Crowder, Marcus Smart, the Nets' first-round picks in 2017 and 2018 — the teams discussed then.

According to KC

Not criticizing you for posting it, but this isn't a material report of any sort. It just says some rival executives believe the two teams might rekindle talks. Well no ****. Of course logical people believe they might rekindle talks. No need to be a rival GM and no new information. It might as well read "league observers can imagine something that makes sense for us all to imagine."

KC is learning the media game though. When in doubt, say that someone important believes something interesting might happen.

Yeah this will kick up the dead horse tank arguments but absolutely nothing is different in reality before/after this idle speculation from some other execs.

I don't trust the front office anymore no matter what direction they choose.

I loss hope and trust with the front office in retooling and I don't really trust this front office in rebuilding either.

Say all u want about rebuilding or retooling but with this current front office it is going to be the same result and it's not what we wanted. We need a new front office badly too bad that is not going to happen anytime soon.

My preference of course is retooling and build talent around Jimmy Butler.

Whether we build around Jimmy or rebuild we still have the same management so we are going nowhere either way. For me id rather watch a developing team and collect more draft assets for 5 years then this team try to stay above water for 5 years.

Eh...I certainly think it's more plausible now that a trade could go down either at the deadline or in the off-season, than it was earlier this month. Plenty has happened in the past week for the FO to want to trade Jimmy, and them being able to convince JR that it's the right move and this is all "Jimmy's fault."

Spoiler-this won't happen. We're guna suck for awhile and you're kidding yourself if you think differently.

Sacramento level of incompetence? Get your hand off it.

Tell me how exactly our situations are crazy different going forward right now?

Given that Sacramento has been a basket case for a long long time, Chicago has a long way to go to catch them.

- Chicago doesn't have any bad contracts weighing them down.
- Have someone to build around in Butler.
- Should Chicago choose to rebuild, they have an excellent trade piece in Butler.

Chicago have plenty of options and haven't backed themselves into any bad corners.

Multi-team deal where Bulls portion is...

2018 New York Knicks Unprotected First Round Draft Pick, 2018 Unprotected Brooklyn Nets First Round Draft Pick and 2018 Unprotected Boston Celtics First Round Draft Pick plus Jaylen Brown and Amir Johnson for Jimmy Butler?
Disclaimer: Trades I post shouldn't make you stressed or angry if you disagree. If you say it's unproductive because it won't happen and we're only allowed to post deals that actually happen, it takes away 99% of trades here and the fun out of the board.

That post makes no sense, they want Jimmy because they are closer to competing that Chicago are.

Unless I have a kid that plays in the NBA one day, there will never be anyone that makes me root for another team over the Bulls.

Even MJ didn't make me want to jump off the bandwagon.

I'll root for Jimmy and the Celtics over everyone else though.

Oh Bulls will always be my team but until this FO is replaced or this rumor is debunked its just hard to support them at the moment

and the Celtics will be the team I root for (if butler is traded) while were one of the awful teams in the league and major changes are made

But yeah Bulls will always be number 1
