What if Melo contacting Chicago lawyers is bad news?

Maybe he was looking to sue a couple Tribune reporters for libel, issue restraining orders against a couple realgm-Bulls posters, send a couple cease and desist letters to Chicagoan youtubers for copyright violations (to be clear, I have no idea what I'm talking about), and threaten ChicagoNow podcaster Doug Thonus over slander.

-Yellow (Lakers) = ecstasy, joy, serenty

:o :(

We are screwed! He is going to LA!!!

I think we should focus on the purple for the Lakers.

I think it fits with all of the overly dramatized Nature of these NBA FA Periods/Offseasons that go on now a days :noway:

I know him and I know his source. His source(s) are absolutely legit. However, I don't know that his source is the best for Melo related news. I hope he's right because he's caused quite the stir here and I don't want the hate being thrown his way if we don't land Melo. However, landing Melo or not, he does have a few sources plugged directly into the league.

We'll see.

They're essentially the Knicks of the West, except the West is a dog fight. And Kobe's deal will be over in 2 seasons instead of 1 like Amare. Ha. What a bloody joke. It almost makes me want to believe in the leverage scenario even more.

I'm not so sure. Lakers seem like a decent compromise between winning (Bulls) and money/off-court stuff (NY). They can't offer the best of either. Bulls are better positioned to win, especially in the East. NY can offer more money and his family is already comfortable there.

However, they can be a runner-up in both categories. Compared to Chicago, there are no worries about the max. And it is obviously a huge market and better spot for his wife's career.

Compared to NY, they at least have Kobe, Gasol, and Randle. They also have a hell of a lot more winning tradition than the Knicks and better history of attracting big FAs. It seems like Melo is interesting both in winning it all (not likely with LA roster) but also interested in not being on a completely crappy team. With Kobe, Gasol, Randle and somebody like Farmar at PG, that is at least a competitive team. Not sure the same can be said about NYC.

In short, I wouldn't sell LA short as a compromise option that makes his wife happy, gets him the max and also saves him from playing on a dreadful Knicks team in 2014-15.

Man, i am going to be asleep when this happens, i know it.

It will be Monday morning here, and i better not be waking up to **** news.

Well, it won't be that bad, actually. If he picks one of NY or LA, it's not like he is going to a good team, and we still have a heap of room to improve.

Ill just be more annoyed because of all the work we've all put in these threads. I've been extremely unproductive of late, and it better have been worth it.

So, can somebody briefly fill me in - because I can't find it - what the lawyer news is and where it came from?

Hmm.....Thonus slandering Melo, spreading untruths about Melo's offseason plans in his blog:

DougThonus wrote:Anthony likely to stay a Knick, Mirotic looks set to come to Chicago

If Anthony likely to stay a knick is untrue, then it stands to reason why legal team is in route.

Carmelo to Chicago confirmed.

He's coming.

I am wondering if one of the reasons for all this 'Melo not going to Chicago' news is because the media and league really don't want him here. They don't want us to win. The Bulls had so much attention in the 90's they are still sick of the Bulls?

What did he say that caused a stir on here?
Kris Bryant will go down as the greatest Chicago athlete after MJ

So, can you give me some idea? Are his sources related to the Bulls or other teams? If its the Bulls I would be less enthused :(

Did he tell you why he's confident Melo to Chicago is a done deal?

I think that's part of it....mentioned before how ESPN barely said anything about the Bulls Melo meeting. But when he talked to NY an LA...its was ALL OVER ESPN. ESPN does run their show through LA an NY though.

Return to Chicago Bulls
