Melo came through town, kicked his feet up on the couch and drank JR's expensive sh*t for NINE HOURS. He can't say no now. He can't.

Melo will end up being more hated in chicago than Lebron if he plays us about only caring about winning.

And Melo is just supposed to buy this? Maybe we should have went into more detail. Or I guess, waiting for the next meeting for that.

I still don't buy it. Noah insists on him. GarPax want him. Melo wants him. As WinCity says, this is too far down the tracks. He's a part of this, vested in for better ow worse imo. They will have other options this week, or at the deadline if Melo does the expected and takes 130 fricken million dollars.

Hey Re, I thought I had him. And aren't you the one who is viewing Pau as a Taj substitute?

Anyway, here's another try on my pre-pitch speech to Taj: We want you and Melo on the team, along with Rose, Butler, Noah and Doug. We'd really think that team would win championships. Noah has been talking to Melo about this scenario for months, and Melo says he wants you on the team. Everybody knows that this would mean Melo taking $16M, so the fact that he is saying that, and is coming to Chicago first, provides a lot of comfort that he is being real with us. The key is to use our pitch to sell him on that concept. That's why we need you there. You know him, and we know that he wants you on the team. Now, if he turns around and later says that he needs more money, essentially forcing us to choose between him and you, well as you can realize that would put us in a hard spot. Maybe we'd have to trade you if that happens. But let's make sure it doesn't happen - let's show him that, if he comes here, we can all win championships. The key is getting him to commit, then we can see if a S&T is possible that will get him more money. The key is to get him to commit, and you are a key to that. You up for this pitch?

This a perfectly plausible scenario if we were writing a book. This sort of speech may well make sense to screenwriters, and these producers of network detective shows. Purveyors of "TV reality". Hokey good guy V bad guy detective dramas with cops that talk, and have conversations like no real life cops ever would. Places where detectives can reason with, and cajole the bad guys under questioning, and by the end of the show they confess the whole crime in the interview room out of remorse.

I would be very surprised if you can in real life talk to players this way. As in, we value this other guy more than you, so we might ship you out. But if we get to keep you, then lets pretend we never had this conversation. I don't believe that goes over well. There are certain things and ways the suits can talk to ego driven fabulously wealthy over-pampered ballplayers. This does not strike me as one of those ways.

Or that having spent his time w Bulls, he gave Hou/Dal/LAL/NY a couple hrs each and is ready to tell Knicks he wants Chi and let's work an S&T.

I can spin this either way depending on what you believe going in. You think he'll stay for the $$$? Then that's why Knicks are there. You think he's leaving? He's letting them know ASAP so that they can move on to figuring out the specifics of a transaction.

He also cares about his family and not uprooting his son though.

And if he's staying in NY and having to deal with that situation, he might as well ask them for the max.

I really think the contracts that are being handed out since the start of free agency are hurting the Bulls position with Melo in terms of a paycut or any team for that matter. Obviously Melo is aware of the money being handed over by these teams and I'm sure the ego gets in the way at that point.

Knicks fans think that's a big positive.

Fisher's a winner. Look how many more rings he's got than Thibs.

Melo should not be hated in Chicago no matter what happens. Thats ridiculous.

Unless he goes to the Heat then you can hate him

If we don't get Melo, it's okay. Bulls are still gonna be a real good team next year if Rose stays healthy. Mirotic comes over. McDermott will get minutes. And still have enough cap space to go get a guard for depth in the backcourt or possibly a center. The East is still an easier path than the West. Miami hasn't signed anyone yet. Indiana is probably losing Lance.

Deep breaths people. It's all good.

Seems pretty logical to me. The Bulls want Melo and depending on how generous hes willing to be they can make it work.

Knicks fans think that's a big positive.

Knicks fans recently thought a team with Raymond Felton and Pablo Prigioni as its point guards was going to challenge for the eastern conference.
