Or alternatively, they are reporting that Melo is not coming to the Bulls because it is much more likely that he will stay in NY or move to LA, a couple of destinations that are much better fit for him as a player, and for the lifestyle of his wife?

See, that;s not positive thinking. We don't want any of that here.

Im off to bed. I am sure this plays out a little longer than we expect.

If it doesn't, and if he makes a decision between now and 8 hours time, i hope its a good one.

See you guys then in thread 18 (or 19).

It directly contradicts his stance on money vs winning. I do not see how either is a better destination as a player.

I'm starting to wonder if GarPax isn't the one shrewdly nudging the media with "Melo expected to be returning to NY" and "LA has stepped out as a real player in the Melo sweepstakes". If the Bulls knew that Melo wanted to join the Bulls but all this time the major hangup has been the Knicks being dix about a S&T, it would make sense to drag it out and put the ball in Melo's teams court to make the Knicks move.

Conversely, maybe it's either Melo's team or the Knicks leaking this information to make the Bulls step up and either max the money or add more to a S&T than just Boozer, picks, salary dumps, etc.

Outside of these reasons, I don't see why it makes sense that the Bulls could even be involved in the process anymore, with all this talk that it's a foregone conclusion that he's going back to the Knicks, or now joining Kobe. You'd think that the Bulls would be officially crossed off the list with all the reports pointing as such...But alas...the common thread is that the Bulls still keep getting attached as a third candidate in every report.

This all seems like media leveraging, it's just difficult to pinpoint who's pulling the strings...I mean outside of when Chris Broussard says something and you can actually hear the Phil Jackson voicemail still playing in the background.

Aren't the Knicks going to be in the exact position of the Lakers next offseason? If nobody wants to go to the lakers now when they have cap space why would they go to ny next year? Big gamble for him if he stays. LA and NY just aren't the FA Meccas the league is trying to make them out to be.

Personally, I don't think that Melo is about winning ... He is more about the money, and about being a top dog in a big market ... That is why NY and LA are the best destinations for him ... Also, I think that people heavily underestimate the influence that La La will have on his decision ... She is not some housewife that will follow her husband around without having a say on their next destination ...

All this Laker talk is fine because we need Melo to force his way to Chicago. Lakers dont have the assets we have.

Seems like if Melo is coming to the Bulls, the info will be leaked in bits and pieces. I mean if he chooses NY or LA, that's it. He says he's staying with Phil or he's signing with LA. Done deal. No other moving parts are necessary. But if it's the Bulls, it could involve a 3-team deal with multiple players and possibly even Mirotic's people. With all those involved, it'd be hard to keep it a secret.

The prospect of being the cornerstone of the next Lakers' contending team is not to be underestimated ...

The sad part is her career potential is nothing compared to what Melo's is.

These superstar players just don't like playing in the midwest, if he chooses either Lakers or Knicks there you have it.

Let me refresh everyone's memory....IT WAS MELO WHO STARTED INQUIRING ABOUT THIBS. IT WAS MELO WHO WAS ASKING NOAH AT THE ALL-STAR BREAK.

Noah probably sold him on Thibs. It was THIBS WHO WENT ON THE LIMO BUS TO PICK HIM! IT WAS THIBS WHO RAN THE PITCH.

Return to Chicago Bulls
