Im interested in what this guy will do in the NBA. I didnt understand the hype around him but it was a lot of teams interested in him my team included. He must have been really impressive in workouts.

In this instance, I'm not sure it is a matter of getting better. It is a matter of body type. I'm not sure that he's laterally quick enough to guard threes. From what I can see in college, he is not. I hope that proves to not be true in the NBA. I've said lots of times though, these guys have had 8 months to work on their bodies and change things to fit in the NBA, part of the reason he rose up so high on draft boards was what he's done in that period we haven't seen.
I'm excited to see what Williams can do, I have an opinion based on what I saw in college, but I'll acknowledge that I'm no expert in translating college to the pros and what he can do now may be a whole lot different than what he could do then anyway.
Here's a great pic of Williams trying to guard laterally on the perimeter:
That's how he looked in college as well. Having to resort to these side sprints, can't get low and move laterally. IMO, as he is now, he's gonna be a disaster trying to guard NBA 3's on the perimeter. It all ties into him not getting a lot of PT this season. He needs work.
Sorry if I'm missing it, but is that actually Patrick Williams guarding LaVine in that shot? The hair looks different from his presser and honestly so does the face. I think that may be someone else (though I'm not sure who...).
EDIT: just saw some subsequent posts. Yeah, that ain't Williams.
Looks like Simi Shittu is back again.

What is becoming noticeable early on, is the balance and body control he has while getting off his shots. Just solid.

its good to see against OPJ but it was also impressive in the workouts he thrives off of contact which is good in the NBA, especially the modern NBA, because he will be bale to draw fouls (this type of contact was every play in the 80's and 90's)

PWill is going to be able to bang and knock folks around with those tree trunks for legs. Kid's lower body is ridiculously strong for his age. Looks like its just natural strength which bodes well for him putting a bunch of muscle on long term.

Not sure why Fleet deleted my poll, but I think this guy will be a fringe All-Star and a regular on the All-Defensive team, which is pretty good out of such a weak draft. Now he has the potential to be better and could reach it. Seems like he has a good head on his shoulders. Wouldn't that be something. AK is the man

So here's some things we've apparently learned from a couple of 10 second video clips where they play no real NBA defense whatsoever:
- can bump people out of the way like they're nothing
- will be a fringe All Star
- regular on the All Defensive team
- good head on his shoulders
- able to bang and knock folks around with those tree trunks for legs
- will be able to draw fouls
- solid balance and body control while getting off his shots
- has so much potential, especially with being a former PG
- can defend multiple positions, including the post
- likability factor off the charts, seems so genuine

We’ve come a long way from analysis of media day photos. He has definitely grown 2 inches. He has gained 15 pounds.
Why so serious?

Re: The Chicago Bulls select forward Patrick Williams #4 overall.
I want everyone to proceed with caution with all of the Pat hype. Most of the things we've seen in workout videos he had shown off during his freshman season. He has always had an underrated handle and his biggest offensive strength was his off the bounce mid range game. However these things he's good at, he wont necessarily get to unlock until he proves to be a three point threat. Teams will sag off of him when he has the ball and until he proves he is a viable flor spacer off ball, teams will probably over help on the weak side. Defensively I dont really have many worries outside of figuring things out as a young player. Tremendous talent that will have some fun early flashes that really pop but I think it will be a process.

I expect something like a WC rookie year (without a major injury, optimistically) from PWill. Carter showed some good defense and the occasional offensive burst, but I think foul troubles will be an issue; however, as a likely bench player, he won't likely foul out much.

Yeah, I almost wish those videos hadn't broken because it's raised expectations so much. He's going to be a very low usage player given his skillset and the composition of the team around him. High usage players - including Obi Toppin, Ball, etc - are going to outproduce his numbers early in his career. It is going to take time. Not what you'd hope for from a fourth overall pick, but we need to reset our expectations.

That's a bit underwhelming to be honest.
What does this band of losers know about "getting it" anyway?

Article is a rehash of quotes from pressers which were somewhat PR scripted. I'll believe "he gets it" when he shows it on the court in regular season games.

I believe that he gets it. Its just that 'getting it' is overrated. There are maybe some players that don't (possibly Otto Porter as an example), but I'd bet that Zach LaVine gets it. I'd bet that Ryan Archidiacono gets it. Yet despite getting it, Zach still has considerable flaws and Archidiacono just lacks the talent to be more than a borderline rotation player.
Getting it is certainly great, no doubt, but the questions about Williams aren't around desire, work ethic, how good a guy he is, etc, etc, the questions are whether he has the skills or athleticism to become a high level player.

Lavine definitely doesn't "get it".
