Afterall, someone's gotta pay for the new facility.

Do *you* think that was the master plan?

Hey, it's more entertaining than continuing to stroke GarPax nuts no matter what happens. But continue to stroke away.

And that's when the worst thing happens... Melo decides to sign with the Bulls. Would be a terrible fail

Its called purgatory

You have no idea what purgatory is then.

Do I have to say we are stuck in purgatory?

Yup, and we had the best backup center in the league, the best 3 point shooter in the league, Deng, Boozer, and a healthy Derrick Rose. None of those pieces are here today.

Im worried if we dont get Melo that we change our mind and keep the Booz cruise for the final year and have the cap space next summer.

I've been lurking through most of this roller coaster with everyone but really haven't posted to save myself the disappointment should he eventually leave us at the alter. But I have been kicking this whole money thing around and I keep coming back to the same thing. It is what I started harping about last year. The Bulls were 2nd in total profit this year and have been a top 3-5 profit team the past 7-8 years. What does this mean? If JR really wanted to bite the bullet and not only amnesty Boozer but he could tell Garpax to spend whatever it takes to get Melo his max. I mean they just made 61 million profit for 2013. You can't tell me adding Melo would not equal or better that?
Maybe not but they will never turn a loss. My point being is that they have enough money to pay the tax for this year and then get out from under it with the new CAP projections likely to sky-rocket. CAP gurus am I wrong about this?

You do if they're big enough. But you're right, they haven't demonstrated to have big enough balls.

Melo said both Chicago and Houston had 'tremendous' offers.

All we need is him to like ours more. Go to NY, say S&T me to Chicago. Threaten to go to Houston if NY doesn't comply, which he may well like better than NY as well.

Yes - you're wrong. The Bulls can't just 'spend more' to pay Melo his max. And they can't just decide to 'pay the tax' for Melo. You seem to have no understanding of how the cap, exceptions, free agency, and the tax work.
