It's a steep price, no doubt, but he was the centerpiece of the Butler deal, and it would really suck to only get to see one year of a guy who was just coming off ACL surgery.

I also don't think the Bulls should be letting young players they value walk for nothing at the beginning of their rebuild. If they have to overpay some, so be it, IMO. The free agency game has never worked for them, and probably won't as long as Forman/Paxson are there, unfortunately.

I'd much rather save the cap space so that we can sign two max free agents in 2019 or 20, than waste in a guy who has never been a net positive on the court, and is coming off an ACL.

Once the price-tag exceeded 17.25M per IMO, we were overpaying IMO.
Once you get as high as Sac was willing to go, you need that player to make a positive impact on the defensive side of the game.
20M is way too much for a 1 dimensional player that believes he's something that he's not.

You clearly haven't studied the new draft odds or Lavine's impact. The worst team in the league could very well not get a top 5 pick and LaVine has made us worse not better.

Zach is a guy who gets numbers, doesnt make a difference in the W/L column and isnt going to become an allstar. Id love to give him a chance but not at 4/78. We might regret it someday but as of now he doesnt make the team any better

I would be just about as annoyed with throwing money at him as I would matching Lavine. I don’t view him as a small forward. If I’m wrong on that and the deal is signifactly less than Lavine’s I could be swayed.

Just going by the report a few days ago that they have interest in Parker. Felt like plan B.

Just match it. Our success IS going to be dependent on his and the other youngsters development. Fans worry too much about cap space and dream too much about signing max free agents. Everyone wants to be a GM. We will be fine financially paying him $19.5 a year.

This is super frustrating, because this is an overpay. I'm expecting them to match but it's really stuffed us at 18.5m.

If we match I'm expecting him to become (even more so) the fan whipping boy unless he has some major developments in his game next season.
