While I'm not a Ball fan or an advocate for drafting him, I strongly disagree with this statement. Shooting form can absolutely be fixed. Take a look at what a good shooting coach did to Kawhi's form. As a matter of fact take a look at most players the Spurs drafted. Just about all of them ended up being above average shooters.
Kawhi's shot was not even remotely as bad as LaMelo's.
LaMelo's form needs to be thrown in the trash and he basically has to be re-taught from scratch how to shoot. Even Lonzo's wasn't as bad. It's going to take at least several years, and that's assuming it ever even actually happens.
I'm not sure if you realize how bad his form was at San Diego State. There's a reason he shot 25% in college from 3. His shot had to be completely changed. If you look at his shot from his freshman year to now, it doesn't even remotely look similar.
Lamelo's form definitely needs to be changed. His release point and his balance are the biggest issues. I really think you're making a bigger deal out of it than it is. I'm not saying it's a guarantee that he becomes a great shooter, but I'd be highly surprised if he wasn't able to become at least passable.
And Lonzo's for is 10X worse than his is. He shot the ball as a right hander from the left side of his head. Gilbert Arenas even had a video out where he broke down how he could never be an offensive threat because his form didn't allow him to shoot unless he was driving left. Lamelo doesn't have that type of issue.
