Who is this real 4? I mean that is actually a solid starter, or at least rotation player.

If so, the Bulls still have a 2nd round pick this year.

The Bulls 2nd round pick came from San Antonio, they received it in the DeRozan trade, that pick has been traded to Sacto now.

The Bulls however have traded the Kings 2028 second round pick they got for DeRozan back to the Kings in this trade.

The Bulls still have the Kings 2025 second round pick.

The exception can be used to trade for a player or multiple players with salaries adding up to that amount without adding to their cap and luxury-tax liabilities.

which we can assume will not be utilized since only available for a year

Cool. We got Bulls West now. I will be watching some Kings games now.

Spurs fleeced the Kings. They still have Castle and Vassell. People will talk about the Doncic trade for AD but Spurs just got a ton better and have a generational talent in Wemby.

Yeah that 2025 Cha FRP is a fake FRP, it's lottery protected, it's going to be 2 SRPs.

From my vantage point, we broke up Zach’s salary into shorter, smaller and more moveable contracts and got control of our pick back. Were we supposed to be achieving more than that in trading LaVine?

Bingo.

People are judging the trade based on AK’s past mistakes.

This trade moves us in the right direction.

I'm not sure what the Kings are doing. That roster isn't anything better than what the Bulls have put out in recent years. Sabonis is better than Vuc but really not by too much.

Keegan is like another version of Patrick Williams & Monk is just another scorer. They don't have any worthwhile defensive players like Caruso or Lonzo.

Hahahaha.

Probably.

We need another top 20 1st in this draft. Ideally Coby for TDS and ORL 1st.

Coby isn't getting that return, we'd be lucky to get a heavily protected 1st.

Man, AKME must have really gotten their feelings hurt by Nico in Dallas, as they lost the title of dumbest FO in the league. Since being good at being inept was the only thing they could get a participation trophy for, that new status quo was obviously unacceptable. After saying "hold my beer", AKME shipped the team's best player (even if overpaid), and one of the NBA's best scorers for a used copy machine.

So these idiot savants started with:
--prime, soon-to-be AS Zach on a cheap, multi-year deal
--soon to be prime and AS Lauri on a rookie deal, looking to get paid only $18M a year
--Gafford on $1M per year for multiple years
--WCJ on a rookie deal
--Coby on a rookie deal
--prime, productive Thad making peanuts
--all of their draft capital, including the number 4 pick AND the pick that became Franz Wagner
--no LT shyte contracts

... and ended up where they are at, today. I mean, if they tried to sabotage the franchise with ill intent, they couldn't have done a better job. Just the biggest face-palm in the NBA the last 5 years until Dallas decided to ship a 25-year old, top 3 player in the NBA for a 32(!)-year old AD.

they didn't get a ton better. this maybe makes them as good as the kings! if fox was that good, he and sabonis and DDR should have been a better team. he's not and they weren't

IKR?

Honestly, after the last 10 game stretch, happy to see it. I can for the first time root for a different team and between Demarc and Zach I can pretend it's the Bulls.

But seriously, I really wasn't that big a Lavine fan until all the ridiculous hate and silly narratives on here that all started because he has the audacity to be in the trade for Butler, and then just spiraled out of control from there.

Most talented basketball player in Chicago since MJ and Pippen, and a large percentage of Bulls fans hated him for it.

To the tankers, enjoy losing your way to the bottom of the barrel for the next 4 seasons. Now we can watch Coby chuck while he and Pwont make stupid basketball play after stupid basketball play. Then we can watch Giddy throw flashy passes into the hands of the opposition. Matas will be the next Zach as he shows flashes of greatness only to become frustrated by the comedic roster playing alongside him. The gun chewing coach will tell us everyone just needs to try harder and "we have to get better defensively". And that's it... that's what we are starting with. It's going to be so much fun.

Wow, we got nothing for Lavine. Not even expiring contracts. That SAS pick was never going to convey, we would have to have win substantially more games than our current win rate WITHOUT Lavine for the next 2 seasons. Impossible. Then it turns into a 2nd rounder.

AK outdid himself on this one.

Is it unsatisfying that it’s our own pick? Absolutely. But that’s a sin of a previous trade, not this one.

exactly. were the bulls ever going to tank for 3 straight seasons? of course not. effectively it's getting out of a bad contract a year early AND getting a mid-1st (could be lotto). both good things. also good that lavine is gone next year to improve draft position because team wasn't going anywhere next year either. essentially nothing bad at all here. makes no damn difference that the draft pick technically still belonged to the bulls. that thing was as good as gone

Tre Jones is expiring (9.1m)...

If that helps?

Everyone wanted Zach gone and everyone knew his market was limited because of his contract. Why where so many expecting multiple firsts and a player?

Such a lack luster depressing time to be a Bulls fan, overall, for the NBA as well. Big reason why I don't spend as much time here as before. This trade just reinforces that feeling.

Think of it like a gift card. They can use it to get a player/players that add up to that value.

The one hitch is that TPEs cannot be pooled together to form a larger one, in the event we have another one etc.
