Just curious.

Compared to July 3, 2010.

Did you feel more confident about LeBron then or Carmelo now?

Thibs and Melo have the same agent.....Melo has had months for his business people to see the scenarios.

So yes Im going to be a little peeved if this was all an ego stroke and big waste of time....

BeastinTheEast did say to keep the faith though last night...so theres that

Pat Riley is still setting up free agent meetings for his trip to L.A. this week, selling promise of rings over Miami's shrinking cap space.

Lot's going on in LA this Free Agency!

Gotta sting for the Lakers org as they drift into the ocean amid the action.

I'll bet those meetings have Melo & Gasol at some point.

Re: NY being 'confident'. Uh, if they were confident they wouldn't be FLYING ACROSS THE FRIGGIN' COUNTRY to try and get him to re-sign! If they were so confident, they'd sit in NY and wait for him to come back.

Really wish people would stop posting things like "it's over, lock
It up", blah blah blah, only to realize, after my panic attack, that there is nothing new other than the same reporters throwing up crap and hoping they get lucky and it sticks.

You guys are making way too big of a deal about that quote, which was essentially made to posture the Knicks into taking him seriously about leaving.

Not sure why everyone has it made up in their mind that Phil Jackson isn't going to be able to do anything within 5 seasons to help a franchise he won a TITLE with, get back on it's feet.

Melo will be what 36 37 by then? Melo needs a winner NOW not in 5 years.

If Phil is going in for the kill as Stein is reporting and we haven't heard anything by morning, I'll see it as a very positive thing.
Honesty is my only excuse.

More confident about LeBron. Those World Wide Wes rumors were potent in 2010.

I still have a good feeling and of course NYK hope that he commits tonight, would be stupid if they didn't right. Just like my kids hope they can stay up late and already know it is not gonna happen b/c they have school tomorrow. I'm actually more positive than before. Thibs Noah and Taj have convinced him to join our Chicago Bulls.

A man who's desperate for a championship doesn't take that risk. This is Melo's last chance to join a title contender while still in his prime. We'll see just how important winning is to him with this decision, especially in comparison to his 2003 draft class peers.

Phil Jackson might've been playing it cool the whole time, waiting for Melo to play the FA market and coming out with an unexpected super max 5-year offer and being like "You're the face of the Knicks, you and me are gonna get a championship in the MSG before 2017."

If I hear that, and I'm Melo... Hard not to just say, "You're right-- f*** it, I'm back." Get Pau Gasol on a discount (Calderon, Phil, Manhattan), dump JR Smith, show that Fisher can coach the triangle offense (perfect for a 3-dimensional SF like Melo), and they can recruit an all-star in 2015...

If Melo was a Knick DURING 2010 free agency, no doubt they would've had the Heat BIg-3 (with Lebron and Wade or Amare). Setting up the team for a decent run (5-8 seed) would be all that's necessary for their chances in 2015 free agency.

sure but why, they're irrelevant. It's like hating the Pistons.

At least the Pistons have won something in my lifetime. The Knicks haven't been truly relevant since the 70's.

Really? Ask these same Bulls fans that were around in the late 90s and yeah I guess making the finals twice means nothing during that time.....nice try though

I dont see what his winning a title with the Knicks as a player like 40 years ago has to do with his present job as GM.

How does what he did as a role player for the Knicks translate to making moves as a GM that will lead to a title?

Have enough trouble recalling last week let alone 4 years ago.

I assume it was a roller coaster of ups and downs like this year though.

If you aren't riding with the tides then you aren't really participating.
