Re: Trade Thread 2: Make your offers here
I'm not down with trading players in the rotation for expiring deals and pushing being competitive and in the playoffs back for another year and if you pay attention to the management they aren't either. There really aren't any FAs that would help the Bulls and are worth the price right now. With 14 players (with LaVine) under contract now they don't have much room to add unless they subtract.
My second move is to see who might get cut when training camp opens as teams want to give the guys they drafted playing time over a veteran they want to replace.
While waiting for that I would look for small deals that most people don't think register very much but shift what the Bulls have from what they don't need to what might help.
One would be
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yc8r5hjr
trade Felicio and Grant to CLE for Jordan Clarkson.
CLE just drafted Sexton at #8, he's going to be right with Hill for playing time I doubt the want to play Clarkson at the 2 but they do need a starter there unless they stay with JR Smith. Grant is a small expiring contract so he's insurance at the end of the bench. Maybe they want to play Love at the 5, they don't seem happy with Thompson, They've got Nance and Zizic. Felicio isn't much but he is a natural center so he could match up now and then.
Money wise it's about the same but Felicio is slightly less and stretches out the same $25 as Clarkson over one more year
Clarkson is a step up over Payne is a bigger better option should Dunn get injured for an extended period, he's only got 2 more years so doesn't ruin free agency down the road.

Re: Trade Thread 2: Make your offers here
The Lakers aren't moving Deng unless they can get commitment for LeBron and Paul George. They know they will have to attach one of their promising prospects to move him. If they strike out on the top guys, then Deng becomes an infinitely easier player to trade next offseason (maybe just a late 1st rd pick in 2019).
If they land the big two, then the most likely scenario is they move Deng with Kuzma first since LeBron and PG are both forwards. Not sure if Kuzma is a full-time 3 though which is the Bulls' most pressing need. I think they can play Ingram at the 2.
The key in any Deng trade is that the Lakers want as much cap space as possible so there's zero chance they take on players like Lopez or Asik or even Holiday and his 4.5 million. They're gonna need that cap space to fill out their roster with players that fit the system.
Ideally, the Bulls would trade player rights of a Euro and probably a heavily protected 2nd round pick that will never materialize for LA. A very negative contract plus a positive prospect equals close to zero value in a trade so it's counterproductive to offer anything valuable other than the 20 million dollars of cap flexibility they would be receiving.

Re: Trade Thread 2: Make your offers here
I'd love to see the Bulls trade Justin Holiday to Houston for their 2nd rounder acquired this year. De'anthony Melton.
or Holiday to MN for Bates Diop.
would Like to see us trade Lopez to Boston for Robert Williams plus salary equalizer. or for Theis plus salary equalizer.
Holiday and Lopez will be traded this year, but probably both for 2nd rounders plus salary equalizers. We'll lack veteran presence without them, but Grant, Valentine, Portis, and Felicio have all been in the league for a while. They can provide some sort of vet presence.

I’m hoping we showcase Portis start of the season. Hopefully he’s starting and he can get off to a hot start and we can flip him like we did with Niko for a mid to late first rounder.

Melo for Felicio? Thunder cut a huge deal and acquire a young center. Bulls clear the cap going forward.

Melo is not suited for a team trying to rebuild

Would be nice to get two more young pieces to move forward, especially Bates-Diop.

I’d do it if the Thunder add a first round pick.
But Carmelo has a no trade clause, so he would have to approve. Which he’s not going to approve to going to a rebuild.
So it just wouldn’t happen.

Getting Ingrahm from the lakers would be sweet by taking on Deng's contract.

I'd give them Portis or Holiday

He'd approve if we promised to buy him out.

Sending Lebron to the West and getting a young piece like Ingram. Win-win

I gotta think the Lakers would opt to send out Ball...even Ball with a future 1st to rid themselves for Deng's deal than Ingram. I think Kuzma would be their 2nd choice.

I'll take Kuzma over Ball. Don't want to read Lavar headlines on my free time.

Exactly. Saves us more money too. No way they take Felicio though.

Ingram Kuzma Ball.
Would love to see Pax choke out Lavar though.

Lavar talked so much sh*t about Luke Walton, he'd have a field day with Fred
