NY are just too s*** for me to see him returning.

If they were a playoff team, at least he could say 'I think we can compete here in NY' and then take the money.

But this Knicks roster is in complete disarray. There are no redeeming qualities to his supporting cast, and if he thinks missing out on the playoffs this season was hard, just try doing it without Chandler around.

It's pretty clear cut winning VS money. He knows whatever decision he makes will heavily influence his public perception for better or worse, and there's no way to spin it to hedge his bets.

How is rondo a bad fit for the triangle?

You need shooters in the triangle, it is totally dependent on ball movement. Rondo is the better player, but Calderon is the better fit for the triangle. Melo is really not great for the triangle, since he holds the ball, and goes 1-on-1, instead of moving the ball.

He has made generational wealth. He will make at least another 80 million no matter his decision. He does not have 12 kids. He been smart. So far.

Makes sense.

I want him to take the dough. It would really hurt the Knicks.

not saying i know what he is going to do.

But we can honestly trade him a year or two down the road. He is still one of the best players in the game. We also could trade him to 29 teams instead of him picking his destination.

I don't see how bringing back one of the best players in basketball is is a negative.

just thought I would mention that.

Unless Melo negotiates a "no trade" clause.

The super max will, essentially- along with his age- make him untradeable. He signs for 5/130- he is all yours til the bitter end.

As I've said in a previous Derrick Rose thread, Derrick is extremely guarded, and I feel that he has learned from all that crap that he, his team, and the Bulls had to deal with from how everything regarding his return has been handled.

Whatever he said, I think he was simply giving generic answers, as to guard and shield his true feelings or plans from the media, because he doesn't want the public backlash again. He knows he is in a lose lose situation whenever he opens up too much in the media.
Why so serious?

yes, 27 and 8 last year he is really terrible. You can't tell me your fan base thinks he is the player that will put them over the hump for a championship and then you tell me we can have him and will stink with him. It doesn't make sense.

If he chooses Chicago then that is fine, I hope a more than fair S&T can be worked out. But basking him makes no sense.

Good for you, D-Rose. Bravo.

He may have had some assurances. Agents talk. Might have been what was requested by Melo.

Doesn't matter, Rose could have told Melo or anyone else "**** off!" The fact that he ran thru a gauntlet of events today is something I find either far-fetched or borderline insane.

I'm convinced that Derrick Rose is the hardest dude to figure out in sports. I just find it unbelievable that a superstar player (whatever he is) would agree to that. Biggest story of the day IMO.

I should point out that Tyrus called that. He mentioned the picture of Rose holding his shoes and said he could've hit the court.

Not to toot my own horn...but it was I that called that when the photo first surfaced. Exact words were "he looks like he just put on a physical demonstration..." Just saying. :D

Rose and Melo would be fine in the triangle.

However, if he is serious about winning, be it here or in NY, he has to know that taking a deal like that to become the highest paid player in the game, as he exits his prime and heads towards a decline, he will never taste a ring, and possibly may not be back in the playoffs for another 2 seasons.

NY is NY, but show where they have been attractive in terms of a winning destination over the last 10-12 years.

They haven't.

I think it's pretty interesting how different basketball and baseball are, I realize it's the salary cap and all. But baseball players will go to the highest bidder regardless who it is, to raise the salaries for everyone. Seems like it's becoming the opposite in the NBA lately.

If he moves to the Bulls, it's a big decision for him, not only for basketball reasons, but in terms of moving his family, as well as his legacy is on the line. I'm not sure if he or his reps demanding seeing Derrick work out, but it was probably a good move for all the parties involved.

Heck, I don't even think any of them demanded it or even offered, I'm guessing Derrick was going about his regular work out routine, and Melo visiting the gym just so happened to coincide with that, ever so conveniently. Thinking about it that way, it was probably the Bulls management who orchestrated the entire thing more so than Melo.

I feel like it's us or NY.

I have been to Houston too many times. It's terrible and hot and smelly. Also the beaches there suck.

In the end, Melo will do whats best for his family. I'm not all that convinced he is moved by all of the fluff but let's hope he is. I still predict he goes back to NY.
