dude hit 2-4 three pointers, where'd that come from? Takes his stock to a different level if he's got those in his bag

A ton of these players are constantly improving and you cannot peg them simply from this past season. They never got a deep tourney run to show off improvements.

Great debut for Okoro. Good for Cleveland. He's exactly what they needed. I don't think there's any way he's not a plus player.

Yikes. He looked awful. Bad shot selection.. just throwing up bricks from everywhere. I know it's his first NBA action and just a preseason game... but my goodness. I'm really really happy we got Pat Williams. I wouldn't trade Pat for Edwards and I was surprised he went #1, especially after some of the comments he made about not really loving basketball and looking at the game as just a job. I'll take Pat all day over that kid. He may very well turn out to be a great superstar, but I see too many red flags with that kid. He also looks out of shape to me.

LaMelo definitely passed the eye test as a distributer. Already leagues better than anyone on our roster. If he fixes his jumper he'll be a perennial all-star.

Facu & Jokic is going to be such a fun duo, there is simply no pass they can't make. Being a role player in Denver must be fun...you will get all the open shots you ever wanted and more.

He clearly got skills to grab rebounds from his own teammates. I've not seen that many players in NBA to try get stats that desperately.

LaMelo can't even get rebounds without people hating on it. Truly hilarious stuff

I'm still kind of sad we didn't get Nate Hinton either at 44 or as an undrafted free agent. The guy will make it in this league. So much energy and hustle, shot looks good and he actually surprised me as a passer in his first game. Hope he gets some playing time this season.

Yep, Lamelo looks really fast with the ball, and he's making meh NBA players look good. His passes are giving players and extra half second to move. God, how our current roster could have used him.

There will be plenty of guys in 2021 draft miles better than LaMelo available to us too choose at his position. Be patient, my padawan.

Look, if we are a lotto team this next year, and we can draft Cade of Suggs, I will be thrilled. Either one of those players will transform the Bulls. But right now, it would likely require the top pick to get Cade, and top 5 pick to get Suggs, maybe top 2 by the time of the draft. So yes, there are riches to be had, but it's not that likely that we will be in that situation. The lottery odds could help or hurt us. Aside from those two, there's no pg in next year's class I'd rather have as much as Lamelo.

Given how we started last night. And given our schedule. That's easy top 2 pick in my book. We just can't win some meaningless games in March.

To be entirely fair, LaMelo was 4 assists, 4 turnovers and 0-5 FGs with 0 points.

Don’t get me wrong, he was a lot of fun to watch, but that’s the horrendous stat-line we all feared. I’m happy he’s in Charlotte. I still find the line “if he learns how to shoot” kinda funny.

If Dunn learned to shoot... if Rubio... if WCJ...

I find it so funny that lamelo gets all over the news with a couple of behind the back passes but other rookies have much better games and get zip on sports center....

It wasn’t just the behind the back passes. Watch the game. He knows how to set guys up in the half court, works it to bigs inside. How he pushes it up court always instead of holding to generate the offense himself. Most of his guys couldn’t finish or were fouled or else he’d have had 8 assists to go with his 10 rebounds in 15 minutes.

Perhaps I’m overemphasizing it because it’s exactly what this Bulls team needs, but he’s a 19yo that has the understanding of a 10yr vet pure PG. He just needs to get better at scoring to be a star. Not an easy ask, but I’d like those odds over these other rookies we’ve been talking about becoming a star.

He can't generate offensive for himself because he can't shoot....that's why at best he's Rubio with no D or White Chocolate...

Watch the game. They couldn’t stay in front of him. He can dominate pick and roll or pick and pop.

I guess you’ve never heard of Ben Simmons, John Wall or Russell Westbrook. You can be an impactful player without a good shot. If anything he’s closer to an extreme Rondo offensively, and is only 19 with room to get better.

Okoro was my guy in the draft. Great defender, great hustle, good handles for a wing, good first step for a wing, good finisher for a wing. Basically, if he is able to add a jumper, he’ll be an all star. Easiest path to becoming an all star IMO.

Vassell was my guy and he had a decent game too. I think okoro/vassell and PWill will all be top players in this draft. they are just winning players

IMO this is gonna be a plain good draft. Even Poku, he had a better opening game stat-line than Lauri. It’s a good sign to me when guys debut and look like solid role-players (PW, Vassel, Okoro). To some extent, between his rebounding and vision, LaMelo looked like a solid role-player, as in 20 mpg bench distributor. It’s impressive when a 19-20yo can come in with no camp and warrant big minutes in the NBA.

Like the boards said, the top-3 have elite attributes but red flags. Edwards has sky-high potential but MIN was the worst possible spot for him; dunno why they brought Rubio back. They need spacing and toughness. Edwards looks like he just needs a chance in a spot with less high usage players (D’Lo, KAT, Culver, Rubio is a distributor), where he can hold the ball more and play through his mistakes.

I would have taken Okuro also. He is just a lot more aggressive in game than PW up until this point. Hopefully I am wrong and PW is a monster.
