Bears 2019/20; George McCaskey is on the clock

Saw a rumor the 49ers are interested in Mitch. If he wound up there, they would have our trade pieces PLUS what we traded for. That should be more ammo to fire Pace.

Kind of a low blow for the Seahawks to release some of the names of players offered. I think we can officially put to bed these two teams working together, can't imagine Pace appreciates that. Although maybe he's too dumb to notice.

Payt10 wrote:Wait until these guys draft Kyle Trask with the 20th overall pick in a few weeks. You know that is where they're going. A guy who isn't an NFL talent is going to be drafted by the Bears in the 1st round because of desperation. It would be the ultimate nightmare scenario after already experiencing the worst possible quarterback addition you could have made after flirting with Russell Wilson.

The funniest part about this whole situation is that I never once thought either Watson or Wilson were getting traded, but to go out and panic-sign a quarterback who is not any better than the guys you have now—AND you needlessly sign him for MORE money than he made last year despite being terrible for a Cowboys team loaded with weapons—says everything you need to know about Ryan Pace.

Mike Glennon, Mitch Trubisky, Nick Foles, Andy Dalton... Embarrassing....

They're going to be lucky to win 4 games next year. If this were a video game, you'd hit the "simulate season" button.

One of the more underrated failures of Pace is his horrid negotiating tactics. Last year, he gave a whopping deal to Jimmy Graham after the Packers dumped him. And now this. Does he know he should be negotiating to lower the cost of incoming free agents? Someone should tap him on the shoulder during these meetings and let him know.

Yeah that's the biggest takeaway. From reading up about how he bid against himself when he took Trubisky, to Graham's deal, to Quinn's deal, to now Dalton's deal. It's clear he does not know how to negotiate whatsoever. And that's horrific to think.

And likely just a narrative developed by irate Chicago fans.

Rooting for 0-16 for the Bears. Yup, cont 0-16 seasons until the Bears is no longer a piggy bank for another mom and pop owner in town.

How do we know the names came from Seattle? I could see Team Pace wanting to release this so that he could demonstrate to an angry fan base that he offered basically everything he could.

Do you think he cares more that the fans find out or that the players he offered don't?

I feel pretty strongly that cost of alienating your players is much higher than giving exact names to the fan base.

Lawsuits are piling up against Watson. I believe all just civil at this point, but the latest is pretty rough. And the NFL doesn’t care whether the courts find you guilty before suspension.

Will be interesting to see how the NFL approaches this with a high profile player like Watson.

They'd then trade ARob I'm guessing?

Not that I'm particularly impressed with Pace's offseason but you could probably get a 2nd for Arob and then try to sign Golladay for 15-16M for maybe 4 years?

Yeah but he doesn't appear to want to be here at least to me. I understand the whole contract dispute but I think it goes beyond that with him. And I wouldn't blame him.

Agreed but he seems pissed off.

If it's Golladay and a second (from trading Allen) I wouldn't be overly upset. He's been a consistent #1 in the NFL and he's more of a deep threat which is perfect for me to continue to cling onto the Russ dream :P

This is the year the Bears and Bears fans finally come to grips with what happened to this franchise a few years ago. Dalton is the unwanted pregnancy that shows up a couple months after a boozy one night stand with the hot waitress who has mental problems.
