Really? Ask these same Bulls fans that were around in the late 90s and yeah I guess making the finals twice means nothing during that time.....nice try though

You're right - coming in second means nothing (even less so when you're barely .500 in a strike season). As I said, the Knicks haven't been truly relevant since the 70's.

Do you even know what relevant means? Because you're statement makes no sense when using that word....oh and the Pistons have been awesome how JSmooth and Jennings workig out for ya

Speaking of not making sense, what does 'you are statement' mean?

Disagree on the Pistons. They suck.

He brought in a young basketball mind he could groom. I'd prefer Derek personally.

I think he's off to a fairly decent start. Can't do a whole lot with a bunch of bad contracts and no assets.

This is the time where I really wish there was a Melo Decision type program scheduled on ESPN.

A moment of silence for all the F5 keys that will perish in these troubled times.
Yeah, well you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Thanks - for those saying why in LA, I heard he actually lives in LA, which came as a surprise, I thought he lived in mecca.

Furthermore we shouldn't buy into any of the crap ESPN reports. Think back to 2010, when they said we had preliminary agreements with Lebron and Bosh. Those guys are all over the place. Stick to KC and local guys, Woj isnt bad either. We're in a good spot if what Melo has said in the past about winning is how he really feels.

Well you know what that means Kobe can't workout for Melo.
Losing to get high draft picks and hoping they turn into franchise players is not some next level, genius move. That's what teams want to happen in any rebuild/tank or whatever you want to market it as.

I feel like when Melo interviews with Phil it will be a lot like Mr. Cheezle's talks. There will be tea and he will talk about how refreshing it is to walk barefoot through a grass field.

I wouldn't be surprised if Melo demanded that the Bulls execute a sign & trade with the Knicks that strip mined the team of assets so he could get the maximum possible salary. That's what he did to the Knicks in the Denver trade, even though the Knicks had Max cap space to offer him. He'd be leaving way more on the table this time around if he didn't get a sign & trade.

There's a precedent here that Melo is a money grubbing d-bag.

Phil Jackson lives in LA, and the Knicks were always set to meet with him after he met with every other team. So no, the Knicks are not "FLYING ACROSS THE FRIGGIN' COUNTRY". This was probably the plan from the get go, we just didn't know about it because nobody cared to find out when he was "meeting with the Knicks" because he had done so a few times already.

Time to go all in for Kevin Love, I think this one is ova. If he's trying to recruit Gasol to the Knicks, he's not leaving NY.

If he is trying to bring Gasol to NY yeah, its over. That team aint winning squat but thats a sign he really wants to be there.

He couldn't land his first choice and paid his second choice what he refused to pay the first.

If you prefer Fisher, you are saying Phil had the wrong first choice. Not a good start.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the Knicks going out to LA. Isn't it pretty cut and dry from their standpoint? "Hi Carmelo, here's the 5 year maximum offer". Why does that require flying across the country? I'd think a 10 minute conference call would just about do it. And then of course, since this is only about the money, Carmelo would accept it and this would all be over.

That doesn't seem to be the case. They are still trying to sell him on signing for less money or some kind of rebuilding plan. I do not believe this is as cut and dry as some of the reporters are leading everyone to believe.

Edit - Didn't realize Phil is in LA already, so that negates some of this. However, I still don't understand why they haven't just put the max offer on the table and ended this all.

Summer League is still over a week away. And I don't think it's absolutely necessary for the FO to be out there for that. So, yeah.

My thoughts exactly. It's very doable and they'd have a much better team with Rose, Noah, and Thibs.
