Watch the game. They couldn’t stay in front of him. He can dominate pick and roll or pick and pop.

I guess you’ve never heard of Ben Simmons, John Wall or Russell Westbrook. You can be an impactful player without a good shot. If anything he’s closer to an extreme Rondo offensively, and is only 19 with room to get better.

I have no real opinion yet on LaMelo, I'll wait until he has 1 full season under his belt. So far, I can only say he reminds me a lot of Rubio. I hope he can be more, because Rubio is being traded from one team to another. You mention Simmons, Wall, Westbrook, three of them are not necessarily the most coveted player these days, although Simmons is young and gifted enough to hope for big improvement in his shot in the future.

Also, what is an Extreme Rondo? Do you mean bigger Rondo? Young Rondo during that KG Celtics days was not to be taken lightly. Rondo always showed up in big games.

I'll take Pat all day over that kid. He may very well turn out to be a great superstar, but I see too many red flags with that kid. He also looks out of shape to me.

A bit out of shape, some rust, but what I saw their was a very dangerous offensive player.

A bunch of the shots that didn't go in look like they will start to fall soon.

Yes a better version of Rondo offensively. Same skill type, but slightly better at size, rebounding, passing, flash plays. We will see how Ball learns to react off teams sagging. Rondo learned how to use it to his advantage.

Rondo was certainly aided by the players around him. We will see what happens with Ball's supporting cast. Hayward looked pretty solid yesterday.

Not sure if Minny is the right fit for Edwards' growth potential. Seems like he may need good coaching relationship to bring the best out of him, and in a world where there is no pressure to win.

In his debut, Ball looked better than I expected. I was not super high on him as a draft pick, (I was worried it was more hype than substance), but have to admit I think he showed some skills in that last game and looked pretty good. (Congrats to him). He look's like he belonged out there.

I'll tell you who didn't look awful. Despite the crappy box score, Culver has talent. Strong play defensively, confident handling the ball, very long and good speed. Something just isn't clicking for him yet. A change of scenery, or just tincture of time, may do the trick. I would love to roll the dice on him if we have the opportunity. Particularly if they go all in this year looking for veterans - Thad Young for Culver and Ed Davis (expiring) for example. They don't have their draft pick and are playing to win. Power forward is their weak spot, and Culver is unlikely to have much of a role given Rubio, Edwards, Russell, Beasley.

I was gonna say, he looks chubby and he missed a lot of open shots but he made a couple of good passes, was open on a lot of shots and it was his first preseason game. The only concerning part was that he didn't look explosive or quick with the ball.

Don’t get me wrong, he was a lot of fun to watch, but that’s the horrendous stat-line we all feared. I’m happy he’s in Charlotte. I still find the line “if he learns how to shoot” kinda funny.

If Dunn learned to shoot... if Rubio... if WCJ...

If you are just looking at stat line and did not understand the pace he was playing at was sick then..,.,also they said if Kwahi could learn to shoot....and he did

Well he looked as good as I’ve ever seen out of a 0-5 FG, 4:4 A/TO performance.

But like I said, it’s in line with his NBL stats, so the developmental project is on. No doubt he’s entertaining to watch.

College Kawhi was able to shoot inside and midrange, and draw/shoot FTs. LaMelo has not shown that yet.

Does anyone know whether Durant/Irving and Westbrook are playing tonight?

Culver is def the odd man out. His shooting is the issue. He can def defend and playmake with his handles but his shooting was so bad last year that its scary. Especially FT's.

I'm open to trading for him and a Thad/Hutch or Thad/Gafford may get it done as Wolves want to win. I think they would ask for Carter though. Which may work on offense with KAT playing perimeter.

I'll be watching Culver to see what unfolds but I don't know how he is going to get real mins with them wanting to play Edwards and newly signed Beasley.

I think I read that Durant and Irving are playing, not 100% sure though.

Wolves are a mess in my opinion. They're gonna probably lose a 7-12 pick to GSW. Wiggins is gonna look moderately better in GSW and save face, making the trade look a little worse for MIN. They're gonna dump Culver and he's gonna turn out OK. Edwards has talent but I agree that young Saunders and that large group of mediocre shooters and a perennially losing KAT is not going to get the best out of him.

From his first-game highlights and stats, LaMelo looks more like White Chocolate to me than even White Chocolate did.

I just hate to see empty arenas, even if it is in Atlanta......I seriously do. Dammit, I hope we get rid of this nightmare soon!

Edwards probably may end up putting more pressure on himself with the Wade comment than being the #1 pick.

I hadn't realized how much Atlanta has upgraded-

Capela
Collins
Hunter
Bogdanovic (the Kings Bogie)
Trae

Gallinari
Heurter
Dunn
Rondo
Reddish

Looks like a playoff team to me.
