If they were in denial they'd be playing Dalton, not Fields, as he supposedly gives the team a better chance to win (I highly disagree with that notion for what it's worth).

Its no reason to risk the health of your future QB at this point. My point being is that the Bears cannot provide the protection needed to allow Fields the game time he needs. I would wrap it up and just wait until the offseason and let the kid heal up at this rate.

Looking ahead, we are potentially getting curb stomped by that Vikes offense.

Sorry man, have you watched the Vikings this year? They just lost to the freaking Lions, they're in the same tier of garbage as us and Nagy has had their number. Both teams are going in new directions this off-season but there should be zero confidence in the Vikings doing anything.

I did, last night their Oline dominated the Steelers front 7.

Gimme Harbaugh and his hand picked GM. None of the other HC candidates are that strong to justify this type of move.

Thank god. It's not that Pace is egregiously awful but the entire franchise needs a reset with Fields at the center of it.

In general it would be a dream to pair both Harbaughs in Chicago. A few days ago it left a bad taste in my mouth when I saw that piece on HBO that had Jon Vaughn accusing Jim of going along with the coverup of sexual assaults against the Michigan doctor however. The accusations sound credible. Im still good with Jim. I just need a minute to process

unless there's enhanced risk of an injury that would linger into next season, i don't see why he shouldn't be out there gaining experience. even w/ a lame duck coach and shoddy o-line

what examples of starting QBs being traded for each other are there in recent history besides goff/stafford?

edit: nevermind - i found foles for bradford and, of course, cutler for orton. don't think there are other examples

Interesting article- I hope it's true (about restructuring the front office), but all sorts of rumors are flying around now, so I wouldn't put too much stock in this:

Just maybe, seeing what the Bulls have accomplished by bringing some new blood will put pressure on/inspire the Bears ownership to try to replicate that, and make some meaningful change.

Trace Armstrong discussed top management position with Bears; Ohio State's Ryan Day part of possible package
By Jason La Canfora

Accomplished coaching agent Trace Armstrong has discussed the possibility of taking a top management position with the Chicago Bears, according to league sources, as ownership mulls sweeping coaching and front office changes.

Armstrong, a former Bears player who is held in very high regard by the McCaskey family and longtime team president Ted Phillips, is very interested in the potential of helping steward his former franchise into better days, and ownership is at least willing to consider the notion of restructuring the hierarchy of the franchise, sources said, as it embarks on getting a new stadium constructed in Arlington. Sources said in this scenario, if the sides agreed to it, Armstrong would oversee football operations with the coach and GM reporting to him; Bears coach Matt Nagy is currently one of Armstrong's clients, but at this point staving off a coaching change in Chicago is remote at best, with a heavy expectation around the league that Nagy is let go.

Armstrong, who played defensive end for the Bears from 1989-94 and has remained close to the franchise as a prominent alumnus, is a huge proponent of Ohio State coach Ryan Day, league sources said, and Day has been open to considering NFL possibilities in recent years. Armstrong also has strong connections throughout the scouting world and represents numerous current NFL executives. Raiders director or pro personnel Dwayne Joseph, a former teammate of his in Chicago, would also be a top candidate to join a restructured front office with the Bears should ownership opt to go in this direction, sources said

Armstrong spoke to team officials last month, sources said, as many former players returned to Chicago to honor former longtime strength coach Clyde Emrich

(As mentioned, Trace Armstrong is Matt Nagy’s agent, so even if true, of course a denial is in order)

As I see it, here is the problem with this plan:

I think Harbaugh would be a big mistake. He had a good run with the Niners, but it ended on a very sour note, with just about everybody in the org glad he was going. And he hasn't been that good with MI, has he? Until this year, that is. So I don't see his credentials as being all that great. Who knows how well he knows the pro game anymore. Plus there's that old thing of "let's bring this guy back because he was once with the Bears".

How about going outside the Bears family and getting someone really knowledgeable who has a modern, up to date approach to the pro game? A fresh start.

The top guy that the Bears are looking at is a family friend AND Nagys agent?

You can’t make this stuff up.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong

Thibs didn't get along with Gar.

Harbaugh is in the playoffs right now, he went to the NFC Championship game 3x in a row. It's a simple game that relies on physical and mental toughness, that's never going away and in fact all of these hot new coaches lack in that understanding most of the time.
