Re: The Around The NBA Thread
simmons looked defeated at the end. I dont know how he can recover confidence or the respect of his current/future teammates.
He is obviously not worth his contract. But, if he was surrounded by 4 other scorers, he can still be valuable. needs to be surrounded by the the right group of teammates and coaches.

We should stay far away from him.
I'd take him if his value is shot. He's better and has more potential than almost anyone named as free agent targets.
He has no potential.
He's the same player he was as a rookie. This is who he is.
He's only 25 and might benefit playing alongside scorers. Really depends on what the ask is for him.

Yeah Hawks actually put together a solid team. They added Capela, Gallinari,Bagdanovic, Lou Will to their young core which made them a lot more experienced and better. This is a deep squad. I didn’t expect them to make it this far but good for them they deserve it.

You're acting like Philly is a chump team. They have scorers on their team.
It doesn't matter what the ask is. We should be nowhere near this guy.
He was literally afraid to dunk in a game 7. Why would we want that player on a team?

What team exists that can pay him $30+ million and surround him with elite scorers? Guys at his salary are supposed to be elite scorers. He might be worth half what he is making.

Looking forward though, I dont like this matchup for Atlanta. The Bucks are probably the worst case scenario of the teams left. They wont have any answer whatsoever for Giannis. if Middleton and Holiday show up, its going to be over rather quickly. I feel Jrue is going to just big boy anyone Atlanta has in the backcourt.

Bucks should comfortably win in 5. Maybe even sweep.

In one word the Hawks did a proper rebuilding. They absorbed few bad contracts to gather future assets and they also manated to get their playmaker by picking up Trae in the draft night. Last offseason they signed with multiple starting caliber players to push the team to the playoffs.
They started the rebuilding one year later than the Bulls did but now the team that advanced to the ECF first is ATL.
On the other hand the Bulls even don't have enough cap space to sign with only ONE starting caliber player.

Are saying we have room to sign one starting caliber player or that we only have one starting caliber player?

Ben Simmons playing at the most important position on a championship team?
I mean he is even not the 4th best player on championship caliber teams. In those games against the Hawks Simmons was the 4th best player on the team. And that team failed to reach to the ECF.
OFC Embiid was arguably the best player. IMO Seth Curry was the 2nd best player playing a little bit better than Tobias Harris. Behind those 3 players Simmons was literally a non-factor on offensive end especially in crunch time. I mean his plays actually harmed team offense while he killed team spacing and missed tons of free-throws.

Re: The Around The NBA Thread
How bout Ben for Kemba? OKC could trade for Ben and throw in one of their million draft pciks.
Ben could start over with a bunch of real young guys and no pressure. Philly will be taking a chance on Kemba's knee but if he is healthy, it will work out much better with Kemba and Embiid then Simmons and Embiid.

Ben Simmons for CJ
I think should be explored. Portland needs defense in the worst way

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.
NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

So Dame will have score 70 instead of 50? No way they trade McCollum for Simmons unless they are trying to force Lillard out. Simmons is a poor man’s Draymond being paid like he is Magic Johnson.

Why would Philly do that? Kemba was traded for a bag of chips. The Celtics had to include their first to unload him, why would Philly give up Simmons for him. They wouldn’t, Kemba is negative value. Simmons is still an all-star and just had a very bad series. His trade value is still much higher than that

We will see what his trade value is soon. I don’t think it is nearly as high as you think.

I don’t. Why is he a better acquisition than Lonzo Ball?
I obviously haven't watched that much of simmoms but it's the same reason why I still believe in Lauri. It's all about the opportunities a player gets and that can also effect a players mental.
Simmons is treated like an after thought on that team. It's the media that makes it seem like he is/should be the second option but he's usually 3-4th on the pecking order. He showed much more offense his first few years (like Lauri) than he did in the playoff games this year.
His key offense ideally would be an elite thadgic Johnson kind of player. Short pnr, passing, rim running, post ups on mismatches, midrange jumper. Unfortunately, he's like #3 on the pecking order for all of these. He's behind embiid (rightfully so) and the fit with him is just poor. Simmons needs floor spacers. Not a high volume big man. Obviously the priority should be embiid. So what are you left with? Opportunistic baskets (like Lauri).
I think Simmons would play/look a lot better on the bulls next to Lavine/Coby/vuc/Lauri. They would provide the spacing and Simmons would be a massive upgrade for the thad role.
And obviously I haven't mentioned elite trait of defense with a big body which the bulls desperately need.
Edit: Ben Simmons without embiid in his career averages 18p/9r/7a/2s/1b on 55% the. I'd take that with his elite defense.
