WesPeace wrote:I think this years draft will be in the end better than people thought at first.. Bulls could still find very solid player even in 10-15 range again. A lot of solid wings and few centers to get.

My current top 3 for that range :
Collin Murray Boyles, Will Riley and Rasheer Fleming

2nd round :
Joan Beringer (probably not there anymore, but if he is, we gotta pick him up)

I’d be happy with all four of those players. Still don’t know how I feel about where Fleming plays and who he defends. Seems a bit like Aaron Gordon.

Starting to think I’d take Joan at our mid teens pick.

If we don’t get a C with our pick I want one in the 2nd. Get Aussie Rocco to go with Giddey. The Giddler would help him

Good write up on Fleming

See a lot of Bam. Small ball C. Can play PF too.

I see him much more as a PF/SF but I am excited to read the writeup

Beringer has a relentless motor. He’s look a raw Jarret Allen but more athletic and explosive. He would be electric playing with our pace and passers.

In this modern age of NBA, cant imagine him as SF..

Purely occasional PF and mostly small ball C, especially with Bulls  :D

Agreed. He can switch on to wings but he’s mostly a C. Don’t think I’m that enamored with him at C due to size.

I want a rim protector that scares teams from even shooting at the rim or paint.

Honestly, don't care what position he plays. If we draft an elite 3-D non-guard, I'm good.

I am very surprised. I have watched him play and I don't see him as a C. He's very active and can shoot.

And that writeup was not very good.

I haven't been following the NIT at all but Yaxel played Rasheer in the first round and it's on ESPN+ on demand. Plan to watch this evening.

Looks like Rasheer got into foul trouble and didn't have a great game

I'm excited that Maluach and Queen are mocked to go way before we draft...that would be nuts if those 2 actually got draft 4 and 5.

How can Maluach be marked as forward with 7'2 height?! Just odd..

KOC used to do The Ringer NBA draft stuff. It was nice to get detailed draft content. But he has a unique way of evaluating players. He had Sarr at #7 on his big board last year & had Killian Hayes #1 in 2020. His big boards aren't the same as mocks. He has VJ going #4 and Khaman Maluach #11 to the Bulls.

RD1, PK11 Chicago Bulls Khaman Maluach

Team Fit

The Nikola Vučević and Zach Collins era has to end soon when their contracts are off the books in 2026, right? A center is a need. Maluach is a towering rim protector with switchable mobility, erasing shots at the rim and shadowing quick guards on the perimeter. But beyond dunking lobs, he’s a work in progress on offense with a lack of seasoning as a screener, shooter, and creator. Such a raw skill-set should come as no surprise since the South Sudan native didn’t start playing basketball until he was 13. So taking Maluach would make a lot of sense for the Bulls since he can learn as a rookie before getting heavier minutes moving forward.

Comparisons

Rudy Gobert
Mitchell Robinson

STRENGTHS
Rim protection: Maluach swats and alters shots using his massive NBA-ready frame. His timing and length allow him to cover significant ground defensively, and he projects as a long-term paint anchor.

Mobile defender: Moves well for a player of his stature. He can hedge out on pick-and-rolls, comfortably switch, and rotate quickly as a weak-side shot-blocker.

Interior finishing: A constant target for lobs with soft hands, catching passes at their high-point and then finishing even in traffic. He similarly does an outstanding job of cleaning up on the glass and cutting to the basket. And when a dunk isn’t possible, he has soft touch scoring with layups and tip-ins.

Hard-nosed mindset: He plays his butt off. He sits in a stance on defense. He hustles up the floor on offense. All of his indications reflect a player who wants to help his team win, and his year-to-year improvement is indicative of a player working hard off the court too.

CONCERNS

Perimeter offense: Outside of shots at the rim, Maluach has little self-creation ability. He lacks refined post moves and hasn’t proven he can shoot. Though he has a good free throw percentage even going back to high school, he’s still just a theoretical 3-point shooter.

Defensive production: Despite his immense size and length, he doesn’t log a ton of blocks and rebounds. The lack of counting stats pops up on film as well: In Duke’s February loss against Clemson, Maluach was memorably overpowered on box-outs and failed to offer resistance at the rim.

Raw role-player skills: He didn’t start playing basketball until his teens, and it’s clear with his foul-proneness, odd screening angles, and decision-making. So the team drafting him will need to be patient.

I think these writers do this stuff just to be different and create a story.

Kon over Fears will get a GM fired.

This draft has some Buz talent.

High end but raw and also covered up a bit due to team situation.

I think the Bulls can get a top 3 player on their team where they pick. There will certainly be a players with ceilings that high if everything breaks.

I'm a big UofM fan and Danny Wolf fan. I know he's 7ft, but he's no C. He's a PF who needs the ball in his hands, which is a pro and a con depending on how many other guys need to be playmakers to be effective. He does have a 3pt stroke. In some ways reminds me of Lauri, but less of a 3pt shooter but a much better ball handler/passer. The on/off stats IMO are more about the fact that Michigan's other "PG's" aren't that great a playmaking.

Some places just use Forward as a post and never use center.
