I do remember reading the T'Wolves losing a significant amount of close games and their point differential was pretty close to even for most of the season.

Empty Stat guys are guys who generate a lot of boxscore but don't lead their team to wins. Love's team had more wins than Melo's team, how is Love an empty stats guy and Melo not? Esp since NY was in the EC and even teams like Charlotte and ATL without Horford made the playoffs.
Melo made the playoffs every year of his career but last season. Love has never been to the playoffs.
Swap their conferences and the Twolves do not miss the playoffs in the EC. The two seasons before Love missed a huge chunk of both seasons.
Denver Melo went farther but
1. We're not signing a 19-25 year old Melo. Melo's first season with us he'll be 30.
2. Melo had a much better supporting cast in Denver - Billups was still averaging 18 ppg, healthy Nene, Healthy KMart, younger Birdman, good floor spacer in JR Smith.
Melo was certainly a better player in his prime, but from 30-35 I think the impact gap is much closer vs a 25-30 Kevin Love assuming Rose is healthy.
Don't get me wrong I still prefer Melo, I just don't support the notion that Love is an empty stats player and has close to no impact on team success.

He said the Bulls are on his short list and it is really between the Bulls and Golden State.
After that he talked about Joakim Noah being in it and then backtracked to saying there may be a way to do it without giving up Noah.
He says this should go down before the draft.
I don't trust him anymore after he said Kobe to Chicago was a done deal.

Definitely. Apart of me though thinks that Flip is holding out for better offers from Boston and Golden State though, and possibly using a potential Bulls deal as leverage. Maybe Golden State is holding out on Klay Thompson and maybe Boston is being stingy on pick protection or something.
If Chicago is offering Gibson and Butler, then Boozer has to be included to get the salaries to match. Otherwise, we would have to wait until after the draft to do a deal. If not, then it would have to be Gibson and Dunleavy, but that doesn't fit Minnesota's goal.

I get why is a easy decision for you guys, but for us, in my prespective is about get rid of 2 bad contracts in Martin and Budinger for a expiring Boozer, and then then we can send T.Gibson to the Kings (Kings fans liked) + 16th pick for the 8th pick.
And for the 2015/016 we have more 15 M$ (Boozer) + 4.5 (Barea) + 4.5 (Mbah A Moute).
Around 25 M$ to resign Rubio and go into free agency.
+ we have young players - Dieng / S.Muhammad / Butler / 8TH / 13TH / 19TH
I think that is a pretty decent group

I like Rubio but be careful and don't overpay him. He was hyped as the greatest European player ever when he was 17 but still can't shoot. I'm pretty disappointed.

Re: The Kevin Love Thread: Update PG. 67, 78
FWIW for the conspiracy theorists, I heard Flip on ESPN Radio 1500...The discussion was how after the top 4 picks, all the other picks until Pick 19 were all pretty good this year. Flip mentioned a couple of times about this draft having good players until Pick 19 and never for whatever reason went beyond that number.
I would infer that the Bulls package(draft picks 16, 19) hold the some sort of similar appeal as the Boston pick if you add in other assets. And, I think if you add Mirotic..the Bulls package probably becomes much more stronger and not to mention that Love himself has hinted at Warriors/Bulls.

Re: The Kevin Love Thread: Update PG. 67, 78
Do the Timberwolves even want to get rid of Martin?
I agree with Jerry Zgoda, the Timberwolves beat writer, who said that Flip wouldn't have decided to coach the team if he didn't feel he would have enough on the roster in addition to what thy get for Love to compete right away. It sounds like the Timberwolves want to compete now while building fot the future.
I don't know how stellar a Rubio/Martin/Butler/Gibson/Pekovic lineup is though, but it does improve them defensively and I think Rubio would make better use of Gibson and Butler's athleticism in the open floor.

Its basically the youth movement Ralph has been advocating. Of which I have a hard time buying tbh.
I think the Bulls are going to give Rose one more chance with a ready to win now team (vets). And imo, with a team that probably includes Gibson and Noah up front next season unless the Love deal goes down..

I'm in.

Knowing Jimmy will need a deal soon and how big his deal will be, I think we might be better off with the depth that Brewer, Budigner and KMart would bring. On top of that, we'd keep Nikola's rights.

There's no chance the Wolves take that trade, even if it was just Love. Forget about getting Kevin Martin also. Geez!
Any trade with the Bulls would HAVE to include Mirotic, otherwise there's no deal. Also, the 16th and 19th are not enough.
Of course the Bulls would do that. I think the Wolves would laugh at that offer though. The Wolves fans would be outraged if the Wolves took that trade.
That trade isn't happening.

You provaly right, you have to include Mirotic too.
I post this trade on the Wolves thread, and everybody liked, with Mirotic also.

Minnesota fans lurking here: am I wrong in thinking the T'Wolves would gladly part with K. Martin? His defense is awful and he isn't exactly young.

Swap Butler for Snell and I'd do it. Other than that, nope.

That is true, but, he can be helpeful for a team trying to win a championship coming of the bench. He is a scorer.
I´m sorry , if im bothering you guys.
Take care.

You're not bothering us. It's nice hearing the opinions of the teams that we would be trading with if this were to get done.
What was your opinion of Kevin Martin this year? He seemed to get off to a really hot start in the beginning of the year.
