Let's go back in time...

We all knew Miami and Houston were the biggest threats for Bosh... Hard to beat South Beach...they won..

Wade was never expected to sign here.....he teased us.

Bron....up until recently....we were never on his radar....

We were hoping for Bosh....but would take JJ, Boozer, or Lee if need be...

JJ is gone (which is fine since he was maxed out)...

That leaves Boozer and Lee.....I say we go for Lee...

But the original "plan" was to also have Kirk and James Anderson here....that is the only flaw.

Hopefully, LBJ comes here....but if he does not and we still land Lee or Boozer, I don't know how I would rank this offseason....the loss of the #17 is a bummer.
Jealousy is a sickness.......get well soon....

- Chicago now has to choose between locking in mediocrity or coming up with a different plan for moving forward. I'm not sure that the knee jerk idea of signing Boozer or Lee is the right idea.

+1 coldfish

I think the best thing for the Bulls is to try and get a team that is desperate to dump salary and find our sg and pf from there.

Unless you get James, signing Boozer to that contract will be the nail in the coffin for this Bulls team.

I'd be on board with Lee. I like him a bit better than Boozer.

I can't believe Bosh is bailing out Riley.

Im glad we didn't trade Luol. I think he's going to be good next season.

Well I dont wanna go through this again.

We still have Rose and Noah. James Johnson better become and All Star.

I bet Miami still doesnt sell out anytime.

Nope. Kirk is gone....

Reinsdorf is a man on his word and wouldnt go back on a handshake deal....

i still love the Bulls, i always will through thick and thin, its gonna be hard though watching us get our a** kicked night in and night out by the Knicks or Heat, thats a hard pill to swallow. I know everyone wants to remain optimistic that with Noah and Rose were better than both those teams but we all know there not enough..even with Boozer who is decent. I dont blame the front office because iknow they tried everything they could to get them here, but in the end its about money and we didnt have enough. Just had a crazy thought watching the nets the other day, could the nets be better than us also :o look at there team..now that they added Favors they look legit.

I can picture Garpax in their office, lying in the fetal position right now.

Bosh and Wade may have pulled the trigger because they know Lebron's decision.

I personally dont think Lebron is going to get on national TV and tell the world is abandoning his home-town team.

Not really good news, but lets not get depressed now. Management has obviously learned of our 2000 mistakes, this time:
- we created cap space,
- we do have some (sign &) tradeable assets on reasonable contracts in place,
- we did make the play offs,
- we do have an nba calibre coach in place,

The only minor disadvantage might have been Paxson fighting del Negro.

But overall we can state, that management handled the process professional in the right way - just the outcome is/ might get frustrating.

Kirk wasn't a great fit next to Rose anyway offensively. Too much dribbling, not enough agression.

Honestly, not getting one of Boozer/Lee in the next 48 hours it could be good or bad:

If we are getting Lebron, than it might make sense to fill in the roster around him with two or more guys rather than putting all the remaining resources into an offensive minded PF. A Lebron/Rose duo gives you plenty of offense off of the bat, and we can always pursue trades. No need to panic and sign a guy you aren't ready to go to war with.

For what it's worth, Stephen A Smith is still 66.7% right....

The remaining 33.3% will be determined tomorrow night.

This thread needs to be split off to be about our next move or something. It's zigging and zagging every which way.

If the Bulls can't get James then I'd say take one of those max slots and split it up amongst some dead eye shooters like Miller. The Bulls struggles in the playoffs last year (and part of why James is rumored to be concerned about signing with the Bulls) is the lack of perimeter shooting.

So the most likely scenario before FA started has happened and you guys are crying like little girls? Free agency just started, there are still tons of quality players out there.

Did we have a plan A, B or C?

I don't think so!!

We were lucky to get Rose, went to the playoffs with mediocre seasons...

Damn!!! It's was the best chance to really improve this team!

Disagree, you sign Lee and only Lee. He can anchor your frontcourt with Noah and is a good fit alongside Noah.

Not sure the Bulls can just afford not to spend any money since they will already have to pay Noah and Rose VERY soon.

Sign Lee and try to pry Morrow from GS, I have a distinct feeling that no one will come here from the likes of a Mike Miller, Ray Allen etc. so I think they can chase those two guys and move Deng for Gortat/Pietrus.

I think that it would be wise to spend on a PF, but still spend prudently. Every year there are rumors and people who are upset with their situation. With a little bit of cap space and flexible contracts, then maybe we make a mid year splash. The sky has not fallen just yet. We still have talent and options.

Maybe it's time to resurrect the marketing plan... "Through Thick and Thin."
