We're gonna send out Taj, Deng, Rip, #49, #20, and 2 future 1st rounders...

..and bring in LaMarcus Aldridge, Thomas Robinson, and hopefully another draft pick, likely 10 or 19.

The Boozer amnesty cannot be overlooked with this. LMA and Robinson solidifies our PF spot for at least 3 years. We've got holes elsewhere. With Boozer's freed up space, we can welcome back Nate, not necessarily have to take the best backup C who will take the minimum, and then have a considerable amount of space left for a scorer at the 2. If JR Smith is in the $4 million range, we've gotta do that.

In your scenario I can see starting Hinrich at the 2 and having Nate come off the bench like he did last year, maybe play Rose off the ball some with Nate. Teague hopefully will be up to snub & capable to play 15 minutes or so a game. And no JR.

It's not surprising playing with Steve Nash at an insane pace inflates stats.

It has been pretty quiet on the rumor front with this. I think it's probably time to focus my productivity wasting on a different thread :)

if houston's really willing to do that, then sure. still gotta amnesty boozer, and i don't see that happening 'till next offseason, if at all

I figure Houston wants Howard bad and has little use for Asik at that salary. So why not move him while making room for Howard? As for the amnesty - I think the Bulls would pull the trigger if it was a matter of getting Aldridge or not.

you have more faith in JR's willingness to eat 15 mil or so than i do

Its unfortunate that LMA's shots result in him in the bottom quarter of all F/C in TS% (players scoring at least 10 ppg)

I think this may partially be due to the fact that Stotts used LMA in a much different way this year. He forced him outside and essentially make him a jump shooter. Getting the ball to him in the post should improve his TS%.

Uhh, no. LMA has had a history of shooting from the outside too much, even when McMillan was around. Yes, getting him into the post would be great, but that all depends on LMA willing to do it. He seems content staying on the wings.

Dude, he still played 61 games, and averaged 31 mpg. Stop cherry picking your arguments. 11/8.5 w/ a 15.5 PER is nothing to get excited about.

Look at his 2011-2012 numbers

Well, at least that means that Boozer's contract will be gone. It would be one less thing to worry about.

he has been getting to the line quite a bit the past 3 seasons. i'll give him that. unlike boozer, who has mysteriously gone soft the past 2 years

Like I said...with LMA, you just need to find a guy that does similar things as Noah does.

It's not about Marcin Gortat, I just brought his name up

But you can find guys that will rebound, block shots, protect the rim.

Of course Noah is better then a lot of guys...but if you can sign a max player at the Sg an add a solid defensive center your good. Next year we will have cap space

Would Detroit match a Max contract if we threw it at Monroe?

Rose
FA Sg
Butler
LMA
Greg Monroe on max or close to max contract
DENG HE SUCKS!!!!

Good post. This point is being overlooked.

LMA is essentially a "disgruntled" superstar that is taking control away from the FO. He can threaten the FO by refusing to re-sign with a team that they want to trade him to, ala Melo, Dwight, etc....

It will scare off some teams & box in the Portland FO to the point where they almost have to trade him to his preferred destination. Like Mort kinda pointed out, it puts the Bulls FO in the driver's seat as far as our offer.

But, it is always not one team. Look at Dwight even if he wanted Brooklyn and they had all kinds of packages, it didn't work out. The teams are smart that they ask the superstar for 2 or 3 options so they can negotiate with 3 teams and take the best package. The best way for the Bulls is to Dwight going to Houston and Dallas probably gets eliminated because of Dirk/LMA playing the same position.

kevin love?

What if Lamarcus Aldridge is to hold us over until Kevin Love is ready. Love says he's gonna opt out. LMA contract is what, a year longer. His contract could be used to trade for him. I know it messes up continuity but it could happen. I doubt it. But it could.

not to mention that boozer can get off the same % shot whenever he wants. he can shoot his moonshot 40% midrange jumper 20 times a game, just like aldridge can get similar % shots in other ways

we wanna amnesty a guy who makes similar money and provides similar offense by getting rid of our SG and backup PF as well? i don't get it

The stats may say they are similar. however, Boozer is not clutch. how often do we say that he is just a bum slayer. in the playoffs he doesn't produce against the heat. I firmly believe that if boozer can get us 18 a game vs. MIA that we would be able to beat them. but he can't/ hasn't been able to.
consider how and when each player can get there points. and don't look blindly at stats. Our coach is one of the best and I believe that he will help not only LMA's D. but also will boost his efficiency by putting him in position to succeed.
Only issue I have with this deal is that our rebounding will be in question. I believe the trade off with offense is more than enough to justify the slight drop in rebounding.

Joining the discussion way late but I'd like something like Boozer, TRob (acquired with #20) and the Charlotte pick for Aldridge. I actually think that's fair. Then we are:

5: Noah, Aldridge, ?
4: Aldridge, Taj
3: Deng, Butler
2: Butler, Kirk, ?
1: Rose, Teague, ?

It's not bad, but it certainly doesn't come close to the #1/#19 centered offer that Cleveland proposed and were turned down for.

Come on. They're not going to take Boozer.

And I see no conceivable scenario where we trade for LMA and still have both Noah and Deng. I don't see the FO trading Noah for LMA at all, but I see no way to get LMA here without giving Deng outside of Noah. Deng is gone if LMA comes, imo.
