Why not? LA has Hollywood for his wife and a better chance to win now. And better weather. NYC is his home and offers more money. That's a big, not necessarily easy decision.

In what world? Assuming Melo chooses the Lakers, Kobe comes back and is effective-ish, they re-sign Gasol, and Randle contributes out the gate, that team's ceiling is 1st round of the Western Conference playoffs, in which case one of the Spurs, Clippers, Rockets, Warriors, or Trailblazers dismantle them. If Melo chooses the Knicks, maybe they make the 1st round of the Eastern Conference playoffs since they conference as a whole is still a dumpster fire.

Kobe could be dangerous if he changed his game up, became more of a team player. Didn't try and score on isos at 35 or 36. But he won't do that, he will force the issue come hell or high water.

I still believe LA isn't even a thought. It is NY vs Chicago

Seeing as it's very possible Melo is waiting on Bosh/Lebron, what do we want Bosh to do? Take the Houston offer or go back to Miami?

If he takes the Houston offer, it creates another suitor for Melo in Miami. But then again, who knows if theyre even in the game for Melo at this point. Melo could've met with them if he wanted to, but didn't. It could mean the end of Miami, Lebron to Cleveland, and possibly improve our chances of getting Melo.

If he goes back to Miami, I think we can beat the Big 3 next year if Rose is healthy, with or without Melo. Not sure what it would do in regards to our chase for Melo.

Upsides and downsides to both situations, I think I want Bosh staying just to eliminate any chance of Miami making a play for Melo or Lebron going to Cleveland. The prospect of Kyrie/Lebron/Wiggins/maybe Love in our own division worries me.

It really is starting to seem like "people" (don't know who, but there does seem to be some kind of force) pushing Bosh to go to Houston so Melo can go to Miami.

LA doesn't really have a better chance to win now at all IMO. They are pretty much in the exact same boat, the difference being that at least PJax has a chance to show his stuff. We've already seen how Buss fails. NYC is just as big globally as LA, so the high life isn't much different at all.

Only thing LA can do to truly convince Melo to come is if they can create a super team, which they can do. But with how Minnesota is acting with Love, might be more difficult than originally expected.

If Melo really believes in Kobe and doesn't believe in Rose at all, then he might think he'd have a decent shot to win it all in LA. He's probably just looking at the star he gets to play next to, and not the total lack of any depth they'd have around them.

I agree with you that they don't have a shot at winning it all. They might not even make the playoffs next year in a loaded West. But Melo might see Kobe and think that the two of them can be enough firepower to outplay Durant/Westbrook, CP3/Blake, Dwight/Harden, Aldridge/Lillard. But I don't see how he thinks they'd be able to take out the Spurs.

Peelboy wrote:I tell you this, the moves being made today and the various rumors make it MORE likely that Bulls can win if Melo comes here. Miami isn't improving, at best treading water and with declines for Wade/Bosh likely regressing relative to this yr.

If Bron goes to CLE, then MIA disappears into the ocean (thanks global warming!) and Melo in Chi sets up Chi to be favorites for at least a year or 2 and then co-favorites w CLE depending on development of Wiggins.

(If CLE trades Wiggins for Love and then signs Bron, I still take CHI > CLE.)

Basically, Miami not improving significantly bodes well for CHI's fortunes in the EC. Plus it increases chances of Bosh to HOU, which means a Kobe-Melo-Paul trio in LA has that much more of a hump to get over.

Leon Rose an Melo have to be seeing this. Chicago starts to look better an better

I wonder if LeBron to Cleveland is a good thing for us or not. Im thinking it would be best for us to have the big 3 stay in Miami

That's like saying if Omer developed a solid offensive arsenal he could be the best center in the NBA. Not happening.

Melo said his decision is based on the next 6-8 years

So why worry about the 5th year
Why commit to Kobe who's done in 2 years

Come on man

Chicago it is

Kobe could be done before 2 years. That could be the case even if he hadn't injured his ankle. He's played since 1996. That's a lot of miles. Maybe that's what the Lakers sold to Melo. They might not have the cap space for two years, but Melo would have the run of the purple and gold very soon.

But I don't believe actually playing with Kobe is a huge draw, for anybody. It would be like being attracted to playing with the Wizards when they had MJ.

Lebron to to CLE would be good for us. Bulls would win the East with Carmelo Anthony.
