I would love to see Garpax move Justin Holiday and sign Glenn Robinson III. He would be a very good value signing.

Re: Bulls Free Agency - Merged
There is too much noise about the Bulls because there are a bunch of agents worried about getting fired for not getting enough money for their clients....and they are using Bulls who have money as a way to raise the price for their free agents.
I think the Bulls drawing board is very simple -
1) Due diligence Lebron / Kawhi / Paul George
IF INTEREST
tear up current plan and orchestrate building around them
IF NO INTEREST (LIKELY)
2) Accumulate assets
a) Offer reasonable contracts to Bobby Portis & Zach Lavine
AND
b) Check price on tier 2 players who are same timeline as Bulls - Will Barton / Jabari Parker / Kyle Anderson / Maybe KCP and Rodney Hood
Stick with plan whether you strike out or not and tell everyone that maintaining flexibility is key.

And you think I'm joking.
I dug Stauskas coming out of the draft. Boy was I wrong. But I’d take a flier on him for a super small contract.

Talked about him in another thread just yesterday. Thats a sneaky value signing we should be looking at. He has the potetntial to be very solid rotational wing. Indy may have no choice but just see him walk, they are targeting other bigger names and wont have CAP space if that works out for them.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

I like the fact that GRIII is an unrestricted free agent. Guys like Hood and Hezonja will more than likely sign lower value deals, and Robinson can be had for much cheaper free and clear.

I just want to point out that, every once in a while, ESPN, or some talk show on it, will do a segment about how different commentators would "re-draft" a past draft class, with the benefit of hindsight.
This free agency period involves a lot of the expiring rookie deals from the 2014 draft. Just as a refresher as to who that means, and a chance to see who the Bulls should be talking about, here is who was drafted in 2014:

Re: Bulls Free Agency - Merged
There are some intriguing young options in Free Agency that may be able to thrive in a new environment as a key reserve. Lets face it, we aren't making a major splash in FA, but there could be some potential fits with this group of young bulls. I like the possibility of:
Glenn Robinson III
Nik Stauskas
Pat Connaughton
Jahlil Okafor
Yogi Ferrell
To name a few. It should be interesting to see what we do and how active we are early.

stauskas might be worth taking a flier on if you can get him for cheap. i could see him growing into a decent bench shooter role

He's the type of guy that we should be targeting. Low risk, high reward. Throw him a 1 year deal w/a team option for a second year.

Re: Bulls Free Agency - Merged
Not interested in Jerami Grant. More PF. He's the guy you'd love if that's what you need, but I don't think he's what we need right now. I think he's a better fit backup than Portis, but as we're currently constructed there's no room for him in the rotation, let alone paying money to have him here.
Ulis is kind of interesting, on one hand, undersized PG's take a while to get it together in the league (if they ever do), and he was exceptional at college, but he is so short without the dynamism to make up for it that I don't think he's going to make it. I'd leave him, I like Payne considerably more.
Glen Robinson is nice. I kind of just want to see Hutch out there and maybe Val taking the other SF minutes with Holiday or Blakeney backing up SG, but if we go for another SF, Robinson can defend, he's super athletic, and he's got a really nice spot up 3 ball. That being said, he's been perpetually injured through his career thus far, don't know if that's diminished some of his athleticism either, and he's a very low volume offensive player, averaging 10 points per 36. I think he has a little bit of upside, he's shown flashes of shooting versatility at times, but I'd be wary overpaying too much. If he's cheap, which is very possible once the market dries up because I don't think he's a priority target for anyone, then he would be a value 3/D piece at SF.
I've been thinking about Tyreke Evans, because I really love him. I'm generally opposed to signing vets considering where we are, but Reke was a bit younger than I realized (27), and he was flat out awesome this year. He shoots the 3 now (42% the last 2 years on 6 attempts per 36), so he might be able to play off-ball some at the 2, and he's awesome at the lead guard spot. Might be cutting Dunn's lunch a bit there if you brought him in. I think he looks for a place where he can start, like if Indiana go for Gordon and he gets matched by Orlando, If I was them I'd probably try and get Reke at PG, he and/or Jabari at the forward spot. But if that doesn't happen, and again, the market isn't there for him, he's one of the few vets I would consider bringing in, because he's one of my favourite players, and balled out hard for Memphis. He's finally healthy and always had star potential, and his game is skilled based and not explosively based so I think he'll age well for the next 5+ years.
Jabari.. I know many hate the idea, but I think he has legit star upside offensively when healthy, and he has two advantages offensively over Lavine - he plays within the offense, moving the ball, cutting off ball, taking good shots generally, while having creation upside as well. I don't think he's *as* bad a defender is as Lavine at this point (but still bad). I also think he really wants to play for his hometown Bulls, esp after it seems he wants to leave the Bucks. Also, super high character, love the kid. But it does seem like there's several suitors, and he's likely to be one of the guys that's paid this off-season. I spoke to Bucks fans thinking he was a 4 but apparently he was most effective at the 3 this season. Still a combo forward in my book but if he can play SF then that means a better fit for us. If you get Lavine back and you're looking at Jabari, then we'd have so much offensive talent, but would have some pretty fatal defensive flaws that we need to address somehow, and one of those two would likely have to play 6th man. A lineup like that might be fools gold. However, if we're letting Lavine go for some reason, and Jabari is more affordable, then that's probably somethign worth pursuing.
Joe Harris - underrated. Shot the heck out of the ball, neutral defender, good finisher at the rim when teams overplay him. If you're going to let Lavine go, Harris might be an inexpensive 4th/5th starter type. Example - let Lavine go, sign Harris and Parker. You probably have a better offensive lineup in that situation.
Stauskas - Still think he can be a decent bench player in this league but he's not a commodity worth pursuing. Min guy right now. Rather play and develop Blakeney. No thanks.
Aaron Gordon - I like Gordon a lot, and his improved shooting and ball handling probably means he's more feasible at the 3 than ever. In theory, he's a great 2 way combo forward type to pair with a Markkanen. However, considering his likely massive price tag, and the fact that he's not a true 3 and I think would be most effective at the 4, means he's probably not worth the likely asking price. If his $$$ reflects his role on the team, then you're playing an AG/Lauri front-court a lot of the time, and that will marginalize Carter too much imo. Rather find a combo forward through other means because it's more of a secondary lineup than a primary one for us given our existing pieces.
Avery Bradley - Eh, not interested. 27 already, but more of a 'final addition' to a competing team than a building block. Doesn't fit the timeline. Why didn't I say the same about Reke? Will I kind of do feel the same way about Reke, but at least I think Reke has building block upside still, and he's a guy that if you snap up now might be worth your while. Bradley is what he is, and even that might be overrated because he declined after the trade. He's a 3/D role player with maybe slightly overrated defense, that's it.

Nice post. If we sign Tyreke Evans, it means we don't sign Lavine. I like Evans more than Lavine, but signing him makes our Butler trade look bad. I'm 50 50 on the two. Lavine is younger and can grow into Evans like numbers. Evans is the better player right now. Either one could be used for next year.

Re: Bulls Free Agency - Merged
I'm not sure why we are down on Noah Vonleh. He seems like a nice 3rd power forward for us, who can rebound.
I see our depth chart as:
dunn, payne, grant
Lavine, Holiday,
Nwaba, Valentine, Hutchison
Markanna, Portis, and hopefully Vonleh
Carter, Lopez, Felicio, Asik
I would def waive Asik, move Nwaba to shooting guard, or Valentine; and sign a free agent small forward like Hezonja or Hood.
I'd love to be a team with 15 players who can actually play. Asik can't actually play, I think.

I'd love to bring in Rodney Hood to be our starting small forward. He looked amazing for the Cavs in the finals. He is electric, and can score in bunches. Can anyone share how he is on defense? I don't like the idea of starting Hutchison at sf. Nwaba can't shoot well enough to start at sf. Valentine is a tad slow and possibly lacks size at the sf spot. Let's bring in hezonja or Hood.

By the way, if we do bring in a free agent small forward, looks like the Paul Zipser era is over. Paul, it was nice knowing you. You were a solid outside shooter, but your drives to the basket were ridiculous.

I know some of you were interested in Will Barton. He re-signed with the Nuggets.
