I'm officially terrified.

No way, JR won't undercut his new GM like that.

Once saw a quote from JR...

"I won't pay someone to work for someone else."

Unless it's changed, this is his official position.

Maybe Michael has changed it.

I mean, it's Windhorst, so it may just be a non-story, but I'm at the point where I really don't understand what we are waiting for?

If Reinsdorf does not want to pay coaches, fine, just reassign Boylen to another role within the organization. Players on this team will never reach their full potential under Boylen. Boylen cannot be the HC moving forward.

Yeah I doubt AK would've taken the position if he was told you don't have any control over who your coach is, because I'm cheap.

Boylen's contract ends in the 19-20 season, why would the Bulls be paying for two coaches?

Boylen isn't paid as a head coach, we never hired him as a head coach. He was hired as an assistant coach (so about what $800k?) and given a pay bump to $1.6M when he got the title change. But an actual head coach gets $5M (Hoiberg) to $7M (Bud) and Boylen's contract is only guaranteed for $1M.

Given he's paid like an assistant, that amount wouldn't be a factor in not hiring a real head coach.

I think Windhorst is clueless on this topic.

This makes no sense Boylen the cheapest coach in the league and the Bulls paid multiple coaches all the time

I think I saw someone on Twitter say the Windhorst thing was taken out of context and was just click-bait. I'd be shocked if Boylen's back.

Yeah, definitely taken out of context. I just start to panic immediately when I see anything that suggests Jimbo is staying.

The good thing here is that Boylen won't be working for anyone else as a head coach,
so this principle shouldn't be a dealbreaker.

If it was any reasonable source I could be worried, but Windbag has never had any meaningful information that wasn't received from LeBron James as a reward for loyal service (I considered some more colourful expressions...)

Hopefully that isn't true
because i don't want even imagine what another season under Boylen's dysfunctional coaching methods
will do Lauri's development and game.

Boylen better be fired before NBA season 2020-2021 starts.
If Boylen firing won't happen at all then Bulls should trade Lauri because he won't stay into Bulls if Boylen stays head coach.

I think a lot of the reporting seems to be the same sentiment we all had when rumors of a FO shake up happened.
"I'll believe it when I see it"

After last season and all the talk of change, no way he comes back.

If Boylen returns then AK will be leaving. No way with his league connections does he take job during pandemic knowing he wont' have the green light to get his guy. McGraw is an idiot for even suggesting that Boylen could be a scapegoat for a bad next season that would then get us a FA via a new coach. Thats ridiculous.

AK is here to make significant changes and get us winning asap. Boylen doesn't do that. AK knows that. Only reason Boylen hasn't been fired is the coach they want to hire will be coaching in the bubble. AK is changing a culture and firing a guy you haven't worked with doesn't look good. Cowley has already said that the rest of the staff has been looking for jobs and only Loesner has been retained.

It is also technically 3 coaches, because they still owe Fred the difference in salary this year. Boylen makes peanuts and Fred's payment is still bigger than Jimbo's. Trust me Michael Reinsdorf isn't going on this big PR push of changing culture and hilding onto Jimbo for peanuts. I mean it is a funny narrative and if I were a journalist with nothing much to report on I would surely try to bump my numbers with low hanging clickbait like that... It simply doesn't add up though. It's super easy to rile people up over that narrative so it is a smart business move by Windhorst who doesn't have a good reputation anyway.

How do you explain Fred Hoiberg who he is paying to work for someone else?
