Obviously we would lose leverage in trying to trade him, but what sort of asset's do you think we could get back for him? He is a very valuable player on cheap money, and will likely be seeking an affordable contract into the future as well.

On the flipside though, surely we wouldn't be able to pay Butler once his contract's up? Especially if we use the MLE on someone this off-season. Maybe keeping Snell is smarter in that sense.
