MrSparkle wrote:I guess I will slightly jump on the pitchforks-for-AK wagon... seeing Wood's RFA price, and knowing Lauri was far apart on the extension (which leaves us in a tough spot with Lauri's coming RFA)... and seeing Grant break out, with AK knowing him for a year in DEN... it is a bummer that two very good hybrid PFs went below-market value (granted, Grant was considered overpaid), and we're stuck with probably an inflated-market value for Lauri if he continues his preposterous 64% TS (mind you, on mostly wide-open shots).

I actually thought Grant's contract was in the realm of "fair" given his age and defensive/two-position floor, I just thought he was a stupid pickup for DET given their situation and roster, and I sure didn't expect him to start scoring like a maniac in a bigger role. His playoff advanced stats were pretty cold, so what's happening right now was very unexpected. I've got to say, in the midst of the MPJ scoring craze, I realize he's got some freak iso talent, but his defense was atrocious in the bubble, whereas Grant's defense was so good it was basically worth a $15m+ price tag (IMO). So what confused me, was seeing how badly Jokic defended in Orlando... was it was wise letting Grant go and holding MPJ? We'll see how the Nuggets fair when he's back on the floor, but he's not gonna help that bottom-tier defensive ranking. With Millsap a year older, Grant/Plumlee gone, and Harris managing to be even worse than last year, I don't expect DEN to make the 2nd rd despite Jokic being in peak shape. They gambled on some farm pieces like Bol, RJ and MPJ, but it might've been wise to just sell high on the young bubble-assets since they were 3 games away from the finals.

Read up on Grant’s decision to go to DET. Social justice motivated.

Or a high quality player swap like Lavine for Jaylen Brown. Or a truckload of picks and thinking we rank out and our own pick becomes a top 5 pick.

I don’t think Lavine is going anywhere. I think he will learn how to win and AK will trade for help or wait for a trade in the summer or a vet FA.

Just an short notice.
Minnesota Timberwolves is one of the worst bottom teams in NBA right now.

So why in the hell Lauri should get traded one of the worst teams in NBA which isn't even close to go playoffs this season.
Lauri has said that he's tired of losing and only thing what he cares about is a winning.

And that how Minnesota has had Finns was in NHL
when Niklas Backstrom, Mikael Granlund, Mikko Koivu and Erik Haula
played in Minnesota Wild's NHL team and it was good while ago.

I think Lauri would be very happy in Minny. He could be their great white hope to build on! Anyway, not his call. He doesn't have to go to minny, but he can't stay here. That's my opinion that is meaningless, but STRONG!

If Minnesota Timberwolves would've been interested about Lauri Markkanen
they wouldn't NEVER MADE that Jimmy Butler trade in 2017 NBA draft.

Lets get something straight.
You have your opinion and i have mine so that's how it should be.
We ( you and me ) cheering for same NBA team ( Bulls ) but we don't need to think same way.
Different opinions are the salt of all speculations and talks even in trade discussions.

I get that there is a concern of that how much Lauri will cost this summer
if he keeps playing like this ( scoring 18+ / 20+ points every game ) rest of the season.

I really don't know is there even been yet any serious trade rumors of Lauri.
But as i'm said often Bulls shouldn't trade anyone just to make trade happen.

It's not a difference of opinion, he's right.

The Wolves do that trade every time.

Coby White, WCJ, Otto Porter (expiring) & a future first round pick (top ten protections) for :

Bradley Beal & Robin Lopez

Wiz get two young promising players to start the rebuild aside Deni, Hachimura, Bertans etc. w/ Westbrook at the helm.

Bulls get two of the top 5 scorer's in the entire NBA (Beal & Lavine) sharing a backcourt with Lopez returning to a now winning situation. Also the departure of Otto gives P-Will more development minutes THIS season.

--------------------------------

Lavine / Sato / Arci
Beal / Valentine
Pat Williams / Temple
Lauri Markkanen / Young
Lopez / Gafford

Honorable mention trade :

WCJ & a 2nd rounder for Marvin Bagley III

How about a trade with the Pacers:

Bulls

Wendell Carter Jr
Tomas Satoransky
Cristiano Felicio

Pacers

Myles Turner
TJ McConnell
Jalen Lecque

Turner helps our interior defense and spreads the floor, still only 24 years old.
Here to argue about nonsensical things and suck away your joy. :kissmybutt:

I like the idea of going after Beal, but I think trading for Beal while rationalizing it as giving PWill development time are conflicting ideas. If you get Beal, you need to start winning a lot immediately, not develop younger players.

A Brad Beal trade makes no sense for this team right now. I think the next star player we see force a trade is Karl Anthony Towns, and we need to be prepared if he becomes available. Anyone besides Pat Will should be on the table.

He could be made available around the trade deadline or next offseason. Let’s say we offer Coby, WCJ, and 3 future 1st round picks as a starting point...KAT, Lavine, and Pat Will is a nice core to build around.

From all availabe free agents in 21, John Collins/Victor Oladipo/J.Allen makes most sense for Bulls. If we could resign Lauri, free cap space of Young and Sato, draft with late loterry Garuba or K.Johnson/Clarke, trade Carter and Hutch for Seyku Doumboya and sign Oladipo and J.Allen. Oladipo Lavine P.Williams Markkanen J.Allen. C.White Temple K.Johnson/T Clarke Doumboya Gafford. Dotson Mokoka Simonovic Ariel Hupkorti (second round pick). If we could sign Oladipo 4/100, 25 mil per year, Lauri 4/80 cap hold and J.Allen 3/48 16 mil. We have arround 30 mil free money under salary cap, but with some tweaks i believe we can find a way to sign two starting caliber players.

Zach is better than Beal and they don’t fit together.

Want nothing to do w KAT. Not a winner. No D.

Disagree on both. Not wanting KAT because he’s "not a winner" is pretty ironic coming from someone who likes Zach as much as you do. It’s a team game, one guy isn’t just going to make one of the most awful franchises ever good by himself (unless he’s a GOAT-level player). It was a stupid argument against Zach and it’s just as bad here.

I was pissed Cleveland was able to steal Jarrett Allen in the Harden trade. Wish we got involved....he is a significant upgrade over WCJ

Good response.

Apples to oranges. Paying a big max dollars is foolish in this NBA IMO. KAT is no AD either IMO. KAT’s D is absolutely horrid. You can’t win with it even with great guards. We both know Zach still has a long ways to to go defensively... adding KAT to that is a recipe for disaster.

I’m not a fan of Beal. Don’t think he makes others better. Zach is younger and making major strides. I’d prefer Oladipo over Beal as he will be cheaper and is a much better defender. I’d prefer a wing not a SG though.

If coby and lavine is finding a way to co exist then beal and lavine def can and beal is a coby type player who is much better. We are already running a offense with 2 shooting guards. Beal would fit right in.

And KAT just needs the coaching and roster and he can win

Add a defensive big next to him can pick one of those up for cheap.

See, I absolutely get that side of the argument. It’s tough to build around bigs and it’s even tougher to hide bigs on defense, especially in the playoffs. But man, KAT is an amazing offensive player. All-time great big man shooter with a lot of other ways to beat you. I guess the reason why I‘m still so super high on him is that I haven’t given up on him defensively. He has always had good stretches on that end, just can’t get it together consistently. Let’s not forget that rookie KAT was actually pretty solid on D.

Plus I just think it‘s going to help him to get out of that dumpster fire that is the Minnesota Timberwolves.
