Toast Stevenson

amazingly, that was his 3rd worst moment of the game. at least he recovered to attempt to knock the ball down there

It seems like the real problem here is that the Bears didn't have someone behind the scrum in case of a deflection. Was that Stevenson's job? If so, he did screw up. But it seems more likely it was a safety's job- either Byard or Hicks. It's quite likely that Brisker being out injured made a difference here.

And as was said above, although Stevenson looks like an ass for not having his head in the game, he was the guy who broke up the initial pass, and that shows his size and athleticism, to out jump the receivers here.

I sort of agree with whoever suggested benching him for a game though. The coaches and the vets on the team need to have a good talk with him and let him know that sort of thing just won't be tolerated. He 's got to stop getting flags for unsportsmanlike conduct, he's got to stop jawing so much, and let him know if he can't control himself better, he's not going to play. He's got the ability to be a lock down corner and a difference maker, he just has to get his emotions under control.

Flus is definitely giving Poles reason to have to evaluate him once again, but I also think that it's quite possible these are just bumps along the road, and things may start to finally click at some point this season, and then all will be forgiven and forgotten. The Bears have a lot of young players who are prone to making mistakes. If it wasn't for Hail Mary, the Bears would be getting talked about as an up and coming team and nobody would be talking about Flus.

I will also add that in division like ours Bears cannot have worst head coach. Flus getting roasted for this is not because this just bad luck and will not happen again. You as head coach need to in games like this head coach a fu** game. And make games which are close like this bring them as wins.

He had two unfullfilled time outs. He let this loss happen. Wont be first or last one. At some point its gonna cost you playoffs or Superbowl.

The argument for not taking a time out there is that you also don't want to give WAS a chance to get set up and get their best players out there. That being said, it also would have made a lot of sense to risk that, and just make sure your team is ready.

Question: Would Ben Johnson take our HC job if offered? He is due for a promotion, and I'm surprised he didn't land a HC gig after last season. He'd be the ideal candidate. He would be walking into a situation with a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball. Ans the defense is solid and could get better after the next draft. I'm all for sending the entire coaching staff to the unemployment line and starting over with Johnson as HC and let him pick the staff he wants.

He would. But you have bigger issue here. Mccaskeys aint paying Ben Johnson what he wants. He is gonna demand top salary. Which he deserves. What they gonna do is hire some college coach with zero experience because owners are cheap.

Ben Johnson is not coming to town.

Ben Johnson is the clear choice. Not just for us but for every team looking for a new HC. And even a few not looking. But he’ll probably be too expensive.

Lincoln Riley will be mentioned a lot but won’t happen becuase he’ll be too expensive.

Kingsburry will be the most logical after Johnson but something will happen and ownership won’t like him.

We’ll end up with Steve Wilks

Flus plays not to lose instead of to win.

Move on from him.

I’m saying Poles should had brought in a whole new coaching staff for Caleb which will probably happen after next season Flus is not it nor is Shane.

I think you're jumping the gun assuming we're getting a new coach. If the season ended today, I doubt Flus would get canned.

Knives are really coming out for Eberflus the day after. 2 of the big items to me:

* Dan Orlovsky has a video out of the 13 yard out before the Hail Mary. Caleb Williams is visibly seen on teh sideline trying to get Eberflus to move the CB up to challenge the throw. Caleb was bad yesterday but the optics of a rookie QB in his 7th NFL game being more aware of what is going on than your headcoach in his 3rd year as a HC are terrible. Like follows you to your next job level bad optics.

* Stevenson was ignoring the field and jawing at the crowd for the entire play on the 13 yard out, and kept doing it until halfway through the hail mary snap. Eberflus excuse for not calling a TO before the play was that everyone was set so he didnt need to, but Tyrique hadnt been set for 2 full snaps at that point... It was obvious to anyone watching he was not focused, Eberflus apparently doesnt pay enough attention to the field to catch players with their backs turned to the field of play for multiple snaps - thats a fundamental problem with the coaching staff that they need to throw answers at now.

Agreed. I'm pretty meh on Eberflus, but at a minimum he's going to get this whole season before any decisions are made.

On the one hand, I really, really don't want to fire a coach after Caleb's first season and have to put in a new system. That kind of turmoil is exactly what the Bears have subjected other developmental QBs to, to their detriment.

On the other hand, they might need to do it anyway.

You bring the Lions OC and keep our defensive coordinator whom doesn’t calls the defense because Flus does. I love the fact Ben Johnson uses his TE’s which is a young QB best friend. I think Caleb is a very bright guy that would that can adjust to his new coaching staff but Flus is definitely not the answer long with Shane pull the trigger this offseason. I just can’t see Flus getting any better than he is his in game team management flat out sucks.

I’m sure Ben Johnson would take the Bears head coaching position he will never a perfect opportunity like the Bears presents. You have a young quarterback who has talent a good roster with cap space, nice draft capitals, and plus you are very familiar with the division. I guarantee Ben Johnson will not find a better opportunity comes this offseason the coaches getting fired this offseason comes from a bad roster.

We already have a Spags in Flus Spags was horrible as a Head Coach ask the Rams fans. The Bears will hire an offensive minded Head Coach if Flus gets fired which I doubt it unless the Bears completely falls apart.

I don't know about that. If Ben Johnson wanted to coach the Bears he'd be coaching Washington right now. They have all the same assets and advantages the Bears do, if not more.

Something tells me he's looking for a more high profile job. Possibly one of the NY teams. Or he's just holding out for an even more massive payday. Either way, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

The hottest coaching candidate of next offseason is going to have better options than "hey, you can have the job, but you have to keep the defensive staff around."

Tyrique's presser today was solid. I'm still in awe of how nuts that series of seconds unfolded, but hearing from him a bit of the madness of that moment is gone from me. Flus' portion of that press conference though....SMH

I highly doubt it’s the New York jobs both teams rosters are horrible compared to the Bears. The Commanders job opening was not a glamour opening either this past offseason, the Bears roster actually fits Ben Johnson schemes a good TE, good RB, and also a good Wr’s.

Please name me what team has a better options than the Bears roster cap space and draft capitals? The jobs opening are going to be some bad teams rosters like the Panther’s, Jaguars, Giants, and the Jets probably a few more.
