Unfortunately, yes.

Yea, just caught them mentioning the base is 26 inches closer to the baseline than normal. I'm assuming the reason being that the frames are for collegiate games.

I don't mean to get off topic, but how realistic is that to do? Virtually every NBA poster wouldn't exist if it weren't for camera crew nearly right under the basket. I agree that it's way too often you see players falling into a crowd of people and equipment, but I really don't think anything is going to change unfortunately.

They need to figure something out, Im not saying I have an answer but for God's sake we have advanced so much with technology and innovation, we can at least look to do something here.

At the very least push it back another 10 or more feet. These guys can jump into that back support with one single bound. Something needs to happen to insure this doesnt happen again. Its preventable IMO. Sorry for the derailment guys, its just so sad to see something like this happen.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

Terrible for it to end the way it did. Feel for George.

Don't know why, but it feels like something more than an injury just occurred. I have that feeling in me.

It's dumb and irrational given what is going on in the world right now, but basketball is an escape from all that. Don't need deflating crap like that occurring here too.

I think the whole nature of the injury is what really makes you feel the impact of it.

I mean, this was a harmless scrimmage, everyone's there together as a group, and then this gruesome s*** happens. The mood was so stoic afterwards, the reactions of the playing group, etc.

It's scary because obviously a star's career is now in jeopardy. And because for about 3 quarters we started feeling good about Derrick being back and seeing PG go down just put the fear of God back in us. And he went down in a freaking scrimmage, not even a playoff game or anything. A scrimmage where stars were already pulling out due to injury, and lo and behold, lightning struck. And the sheer ugliness of the injury. It was our first look at NBA stars in months. It feels like we woke up for our wedding and caught our spouse cheating with our best friend. :nonono:

It looks like those are Live tweets, and he just watched his team next year go down in one injury. Probably completely lost for words too.

I think it's very realistic. The technology is there. Just rethink the angles for viewing.

Man I wasn't ready for that. I didn't see it when it happened and didn't think it was that serious when I saw him on the court but when they showed that first replay I caught it full on. Man that was up there with the slamball injury and the Livingston one and it did make me feel sick to my stomach. Hopefully it is a little better that it wasn't his knee but man that looked bad. Just went from being so happy to see Rose out there in Unicorn mode back to gut punch horrible injury. Best wishes to PG and his family for a good recovery.

K and Colangelo probably need to give these guys a week off, send them home, clear their minds, see their family and friends. Then come back refreshed, refocused, ready to go. It's devastating, but it's still just basketball and these guys love to play and love to compete. And they need to see that PG will be alright, he's got his contract, he's still young, he'll get started with his rehab and make it back.

He's right. I checked some NBA highlights, and the stanchion is further away from the baseline.

Hopefully this gets the NBA to act on widening the clearance around the court. Move everything back. Stanchion, photographers, etc.

why do we have to wait for a serious injury before we do the common sense thing?

When they were taking him off the floor on the gurney you couldnt even see his foot.... It's like it was twisted backwards, or up. Did anyone else see that?

Looked great and then showed some rust/fatigue towards the end with a couple of turnovers.

For all the animosity between our Bulls and the Pacers, I think a lot of us realized how great it was to have a division rival to test Chicago and to have a competitive team in Indianapolis for that city, and the state, to rally behind. After Granger, the Detroit incident, the near misses of the early 2000s and 90s...they had built a great team and weathered the worst of circumstances last season. A damn shame.

George was preparing himself for an MVP-type workload, and I don't doubt he could have made another leap. I'll be rooting for his comeback just as I cheered for Rose during his rehab. It will be a great feat if he makes it back.

Something as gruesome as this has to really mess with player's minds, especially Rose who was trailing the play his first game back.
