Ice Man wrote:Now this is how you attract free agents. From my Heat Nation feed (Lord knows how I got it, but apparently there is no Bulls equivalent, or if so the Bulls can't find me), an article about how Pat Riley told Jimmy Butler that if the team goes out in the first round of the playoffs this year that Pat will retool the team. Allegedly, Pat promised Butler when he joined the Heat that the organization would surround him with enough talent during his prime to make the team a perennial contender, if Butler did his job according to expectations, and Pat wanted Butler to know that the franchise intends to honor its promise.

Now whether Riley can manage that feat, I don't know, but that approach surely has to help in attracting elite FAs. At least the ones who have been around a few blocks and more than anything, want to win.

Hard to imagine Kawhi leaving LA... but between him and Jrue, there are your max contract plays. More than enough pieces to pull off any S&T they desire.

Wow the Raptors are beating the breaks off Golden St. No Curry or Green. But both of them wanted to make sure to play us. Guess that backfired.

I mean Klay is injured, and Draymont and Curry rested. The Bulls never had to deal with a game where Pippen, Jordan, AND Rodman sat all at once. Not really a fair look if three all-NBA players including a GOAT apiece have gone down.

New Space Jam reboot trailer. TBH it seems like Lebron has way more on screen charisma than Jordan. But that’s not saying much, especially since Lebron has been so forward and camera facing for his entire life.

I never liked Space Jam as a kid because I always wanted to see real NBA stuff, but I gotta admit this does seem charming.

Now Gordon Hayward is out for the Hornets.

All that good luck early in the season, has turned into the injury bug. Hornets have played well all year. Even without LaMelo they have kept rolling.

Its going to be even harder without Gordon but they have been resilient.

I wish we were more like them.

They have fighters. Rozier, Graham, Bridges, Washington... But without Hayward on top of losing LaMelo, it might be too much.

It’s almost as if stars don’t want to play against grimey defensive teams with nothing to lose, as compared to no defense softer teams with offensive talent like Sactown.... or the Bulls.

Tough, gritty team. But injuries will hurt them at the end of the season.

They literally are the Chicago Bulls as we were for over a decade.

Orlando about to give up 80 points at halftime vs Utah (18 3s made). We did pretty good last night keeping the game close, all things considered.

Wendell is already the Orlando starter, which tells you how bad Mo Bamba is. Wendell is sitting on 15/10, not bad, although that doesn't tell anything about his defense. But the paint wasn't Orlando's big problem, as the Jazz have hit 23 3s (!) with the game not yet over.

It's incredible how well Charlotte has played this season. James Borrego has to be in the COY conversation.

nba needs to get rid of its video reviews, i dont care if a ref gets it wrong, watching college basketball was so much more fun without the constant stoppages.

These days, every time I hear the words "They're gonna take a look at it" I die inside.

Why does it have to take so f**king LONG?

Read on Twitter

@ShamsCharania: Milwaukee star guard Jrue Holiday and the Bucks have agreed to a four-year maximum contract extension worth up to $160 million, his agent Jason Glushon of @GlushonSM told @TheAthletic @Stadium.

Man, that contract is gonna be brutal in the end

Wow. I thought paying Gobert that much wasnt a good idea but at least Gobert on any team is a game changer.

Jrue certainly is a very good player but at 40 mil, that locks them into Giannis, Middleton and Jrue for the next few years with little help.

I dont know if that is enough to get them over the top. A team like Brooklyn can get away with it. Not only because they have a better 3 but because the market is easier for ring chasers. The Bucks wont get ring chasers like that.

So ultimately I cant see all 3 of Giannis, Middleton and Jrue together in 2 years or less.

Not only that, It significantly thins out the potential FA PG market. I would never pay that much. Schröder's leverage & price might go up dramatically.

Probably a little too much for Jrue, but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal and the Bucks had to get this extension done. I‘d be very happy with this as a Bucks fan.

Filling out the roster will be challenge for the years to come though.

They'll have to bank on undrafted gems and 2nd rounders (do they even have them?).

@ShamsCharania: Jrue Holiday’s max extension with the Bucks includes a player option in Year 4. https://t.co/PieJz0PDkj

Player option on year 4. Can't really see him declining it, though.

LOL at the Bucks. I know they had to do it but come one $40M a year Jrue? Did anybody here think Jrue was a 40m a year guy? Good for Holiday but holy hell is that a monstrous deal, so they better win a championship.

More I think about the more it scares me about what Zach is going to want.
