That seems kind of out of context though. The guy said if situations allow it he could see him playing C but not every game or even as a natural position. Definitely an interesting pick though at 22.

You can't go with a small 5 on a regular basis all season because they get beat up. Just when it matters.

Here's a comparison between Keita and Draymond, two seniors who came out of the Big 10. Keita is longer and better at offense, Draymond is better at passing and defense.

http://www.tankathon.com/players/compare?players=keita-bates-diop--draymond-green

Thing is what makes draymond so good is his energy and hustle. If Bates doesn’t have that any comparison to draymond or really any small ball 5 is worthless. Guys like melo could in theory play 5 but he’s too lazy to bang down there every time for boards. Marvin Williams, PJ, and even taj all these guys have similar is energy willing to be a pest even if the other guy is bigger.

Agreed. A small ball 5 has to have that attitude. And I don't know whether Bates-Diop has it. But he sure has an incentive to get it. Doing so could mean millions of dollars over the course of his career. Melo already got paid early on - he's been hopeless for a while now.

Hope we can get some video of this workout soon. Not really interested hearing him talk about shooting in a open room.

Glad those guys are already back at work especially felicio. Hopefully he can get ready for the season physically early by starting now.

Man, Mo Bamba should have went to Michigan. He'd be so much further along in his offensive development.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

I’m starting to think that with all of the issues plaguing the Mavericks’ organization, they won’t be able to resist winning the press conference with a bright and engaging kid like Bamba. MPJ gives off a Mr Steal Yo Girl vibe that won’t play nearly as well.

Which is all great news since it means MPJ may only need to dissuade Orlando from drafting him to fall to the Bulls.

I never understood why we think MPJ won’t fall to us. Teams that could use him are too high to justify it. I never thought twice about Dallas because they’ve been showing they want a C more than anything. On top of that they already pay Barnes to play the exact same 2 positions porter would play.

The Celtics have expressed interest in Mo Bamba and could move up in the draft,

I really don't know how Mark Cuban is surviving all this. There has been a lot of sexual harassment/sick behavior with that organization under his watch it seems.

It's really reading like he knew a lot of this stuff was going on.

He's one of my favorite draft prospects in years. And it's not really just the basketball player, it's the personality and the intellect. And the arms. OK, definitely the arms.

"Given the way the NBA is going these days, my latest outside-the-box thought on a 5 for the Bulls is Keita Bates-Diop.

6'8.5" in shoes
7'3.25" wingspan
224 pounds
Can score at all three levels, and can guard wings
1.6 blocks per game last year

Seems like the Suns are having the same thought."

I have advocated for Bates-Diop for some time now with our #22 pick if we don't use it to trade up. The kid has good size and is a two way player. He was Big 10 Player of the Year. He's from Champaign-Urbana so he probably grew up a Bulls fan. He is comparable physically to Mikal Bridges, maybe slightly bigger, but without Mikal's long distance shooting prowess. We could do worse than him at #22.

He needs to be on our list at 22. It seems the wing position is trending smaller, but LeBron, Durant, and Paul George are still dominant forces in this league. It would be good to have a player that can guard a bigger wing.

This is the primary reason why I'd rather not burn the #7 pick on a center. Center is a spot that you can fill with random **** (late draft picks, faux-centers, cheap trades/signings). You can scramble and still find yourself a good center.

Doesn't seem to me that you can scramble and find yourself good guards and wings. You need to straight up invest in those.
