Andy Dalton has just 1 yard less rushing than D. Montgomery, and on 6 fewer carries!

I think it's becoming more and more common for teams to do this. the analytics point to this being a good play.
If you pass up a field goal and get the first down you still have to put the ball in the end zone from 30 yards out. The best td red zone percentage in the NFL last season was 75%. Multiple teams were under 50%.

The average 4th down conversion rate is right at 50%. Well... not for Nagy...but....

A lot of teams will go for it on 4th and short between the 35-45. It's a long fg, or possibly a punt that might only net you 15-25 yards.
You mentioned analytics. The Bears passed up a 50 yard field goal.

I gave you percentages and a linked analysis. Here is another article:

Well it’s tough for a rookie to take over the offense with the wrong gameplan for him and no work with the 1s

I wouldn't be surprised if Andy tore something in his knee.

Read on Twitter

You can play with an ACL tear. He did and then the adrenaline wore off.

They're going to ruin him.

Darnold is tearing up the Saints. He was always a high level talent and Joe Brady is the next offensive savant. That's who I want here.

As a general point, analytics say that teams should be going for it more often on 4th down than they do. And the fact that teams already fairly often go for it on 4th and short between the opponents 35-45 yard lines, make Nagy and Cincy's decisions good ones.

Terrible flop. They're going to murder Burrow for that garbage. Make him earn that late hit call.

Burrow is taking a lot of hits. Bears defense is really stout today.

that was essentially free 3 points to them. should have been punted back to us if not for that penalty. Defense doing well so far except for the bone headed penalties
