IMO this is all good news. They didnt land another ball handler like Lowery and they didnt add a legit big who can defend/rebound like Gasol or Gortat

That means they have to continue with the same style of play and clearly they were struggling to be succesful with it. Hard to play scramble defense when all your best wing defenders are getting old.

$2.2 trade exception is left.

But if McBob and Granger have really signed for the MLE and the BAE, that means the Heat are staying over the cap. So all they would have left would be the vet min. Doubt that Marion signs for that. The others? Maybe.

Unless McBob and Granger could be converted to cap space signings. Not familiar enough with the Miami cap situation.

I agree, I want to see the East become like the West so that the overall league as a whole is better.
if the Sixers, Bucks, Hornets, Raps and Hawks build right it will happen soon.

Arent the gonna use these contracts with execptions? seems to me they would be shooting themselves in the foot, to sign role players, before locking in there major contract sighnings

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but Granger and McRoberts have made VERBAL commitments to amounts consistent with the exceptions, which would imply that they would simply sign their contracts after the other big guys in Miami. Therefore, they aren't shooting themselves in the foot, as you have asked.

Keep in mind that Marion would likely be replacing Battier/Lewis in the rotation. They'd be getting better on the glass, quicker on the break, and probably better on defense. Their lack of size would remain an issue, but Marion would be their best rebounder.
