I'm confused by his message. Aren't we already out of the draft after the Hinrich trade? Wouldn't we be getting a draft pick if we traded deng?

If we get pure cap space for Deng, we match Miami - We can then sign two max players and still get another high-level free agent. While having Rose and Noah already on the roster.

I love Deng but I don't think the FO would do this if they weren't very confident (through "back channel" dealing) that we were getting multiple top FAs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It kind of sucks that Reinsdorf will only pay for a proven winner. Championship favorite.

HOWEVER, what that means is if you are GarPax, to fulfill that requirement to pay, you must risk everything to build such a sure-fire winner. Looks like they are trying to do just that.
