Re: Reinsdorf talks Big 3; Regrets Dealing Hinrich
lets face it, Kirk was on the downslide of his career. He wasnt cutting it as a shooter. And his defense is overrated. To say he's the best defender against wade when Wade scored 44 on him, well isnt saying much. So, letting him go to get Boozer and Kyle and possibly Redick is a good deal.

Hinrich is not a shooting guard. He can defend PG's, SG's and SF's but he will always be out of place on offense if he isn't taking the ball down the court.

Re: Reinsdorf talks Big 3; Regrets Dealing Hinrich
While I regret having to lose someone who brought the effort defensively that Hinrich did, that's about all I regret losing. Let's not forget how his shot wasn't good enough to be the SG we need (how many threads over the last year say that very thing?? 12?? 17??). Let's also not forget that he was being paid starter type money and he wasn't really a starter for us (at least not at his real position). Midway through Rose's first season Hinrich should have been moved for some actual value.
Also, if we never traded Thabo, Hinrich would have been entirely expendable. Gibson's nice but there are other ways to acquire a late 1st round pick.
With the ability to use the money that would have gone to Hinrich to fill out the roster, we should be able to put together a much better balanced and overall more complete team then with Hinrich still in the mix.

I'm glad Hinrich isn't a Bull anymore. He had his moments and he seemed like a good guy, but this wasn't the right situation for him.

So can a defensive guard at half the price like Pietrus/Battier/Bell who are more natural 2 guards.
If Hinrich was making 5 or 6 million a year, I'd be truly upset but he was making 9.

Re: Reinsdorf talks Big 3; Regrets Dealing Hinrich
Reinsdorf is kidding himself if he thinks Lebron was sincere in his interest. Its becoming clearer and clearer every day that the Miami deal was in the bag for years. Lebron was either doing the interview fiasco to mess with other teams plans, or just to gain attention to his own ego. Reinsdorf doesn't want to admit he was taken in by a huckster. The Bulls dumped Hinrich on a con by Lebron, and now they are in trouble in the backcourt. Admit it Reinsdorf. He won't of course.

Well shoot! I didn't know we were getting into price! You got me beat.

Re: Reinsdorf talks Big 3; Regrets Dealing Hinrich
I don't regret the Hinrich trade. It was another bloated contract on this roster.
We added Korver for 3 years, we'll see about JJ for 3 years; both are better shooters than Hinrich. I regret losing the pick, but whatever.

Re: Reinsdorf talks Big 3; Regrets Dealing Hinrich
Without getting into the whole Gordon-Hinrich debate again-- most of you know that I strongly favored Gordon between those two-- I just take JR's comments as meaning that he always liked Kirk and was sad to see him go on a sentimental level. I'm sentimentally sorry as well. But on a basketball level I don't for a minute regret losing Kirk. If we had gotten another max FA with part of Kirk's salary we would have been much better off. If we are still able to get Redick + Brewer for Kirk's salary we'll be much better off. If we had gotten Morrow, Brewer + Livingston for Kirk's salary we would have been better off. And if we don't get anyone all that palatable, at least we'll have tried and can only blame bad luck.

I don't see ho its not regrettable. IMO the Bulls would have been better off drafting Anderson and having Kirk right now instead of praying for guys like Redick to sign.

If the fix wasn't in, maybe I could console myself like this. Lebron conned a bunch of teams into gutting their rosters and simultaneously orchestrating a long BJ for himself, and thats the reality of it.

Is that why Reinsdorf is over compensating by bringing in 2 white guys and overpaying for Redick?

Re: Reinsdorf talks Big 3; Regrets Dealing Hinrich
If we get Redick, I don't think it's that regrettable. Redick is the better shooter, doesn't dominate the ball and brings the same type of hustle on defense. Like a lot of people, I would have liked to keep the pick and draft Anderson, but we don't even know if he was the FO's first choice for that pick. I think it's still too early to regret giving up Kirk.

He'll be back in the Bulls organization soon enough.
Me think's he'll one day end up in a John Paxson esque kind of role or maybe even a head coach ala Sloan(Except he'll actually coach the Bulls). The organization loves Kurt Heinrich

Why?
Hinrich sucked something fierce last year.
