They are showing some of the qualifying games on NBATV yesterday(one of them is Russia against Nigera.) not sure who play the second game, and they are going to show couple games today live(so they say lol.) on NBATV not sure who is playing. So for heads up for people who have NBATV want to check out those games it will be on NBATV.

Just a tip for people...don't bet on Angola. I'm guessing this list was from before the quarterfinals?

I know we've got posters from all across the globe, but is there anyone in or near Tunisia? I just wanted to say it's good to see them qualifying by winning their continental championship last year, after making their first-ever World Championship appearance the year before. (And after what they went through politically last year.) Even though they went 0-5 in the preliminary round in Istanbul, they had great support from their fans (maybe since they were right across the Mediterranean.) And the players seemed pretty happy to be there too, especially when they were mingling with players from team USA after they played. I don't know if they'll supplant Angola (who has won all but two African Championships since 1987) as the power from Africa, but the more improvement from prior basketball deserts, the better.

Nigeria vs Dominican Republic featuring Al Horford and Francisco Garcia is going on now. Winner gets the final Olympic spot.

Ime Udoka and Al-Farouq Aminu play for Nigeria.

Yeah I watching the game right now, and I believe Ammiou(from the Hornets.) is playing for Nigeria.

Think Derrick might have something to say about that, but no doubt, Uncle Drew's just gonna keep getting better and better. Too bad Cleveland screwed up the 2 picks right after him, or the could've had something really nice brewing there (Thompson/Waiters should've been Valanciunas/Robinson IMO).

Spain's size worries me w/the Gasol's/Ibaka...but the US talent is undeniable.

Since I'm just a sidelines forum poster, I go with a video game style full hockey line change system most the time unless a tight game predicates something else and just going w/our absolute best or the hot hand Thibs style.

1st Line: Paul/Kobe/Lebron/Melo/Chander
2nd Line: Westbrook/Harden/Durant/Griffin/Love
Mop up/foul trouble: Iggy/Deron

1st "Line" thoughts:
- The "lines" are pretty much generational.
- You've got the CP3/Melo/Bron buddy buddies on the first line.
- You have Tyson who is the only true center on the roster and who is also a teammate of Melo
- These guys played together on the last Olympic team

2nd "Line" thoughts:
- Durant is first rate, first line in any basketball world, but some stud has to come off the bench on this squad so...
- Why not let it be the guy who is one of the most humble and who also has 2 teammates on the team - keep the 3 Thunder guys on the floor together to have immediate chemistry.
- Pair them with Love (Westbrook UCLA connection) and his rebounding / terrific outlet passes - sending those to the Thunder horses running with Griffin in the open floor...damn.
- Iggy/Deron - odd men out if it were me

Closers:
- You likely go Thibs style w/the hot hand / whoever got you there / whoever's making plays
- Hypothetically, I'd go:

Offense: Paul/Kobe/Lebron/Melo/Durant
- 1st shot - still the Mamba, 2nd option Durant, then Melo...sorry Bron, you're still not clutch compared to those guys

Defense: Westbrook/Kobe/Iggy/Lebron/Chandler
- Kobe's well known to be overrated on D, but for a short stint in the crunch where he knows he has to bring his all, he still cracks this 5

EDIT - Hmm...rethinking the Offense one...maybe you do give it to 'Bron knowing he's going to pass up the shot...and any of the other 4 are beastly in the clutch.

Kyrie just broke team USA like he was playing in the Drew League.. He walked through the frontline of a fullcourt press set by Kobe/Durant/Harden.

Kyrie was like WTF didn't you guys pick me??? That was sick.

Was very disappointed in Taj giving up the facial too.

Also, I'll take Rose over Kyrie right now, but I've never seen Rose do that before. Granted, it's a scrimmage, but the ball control is PHENOMENAL.

Team USA looks like LeBron's team now instead of Kobe's. It's actually kinda fun watching LeBron overpower his opponents and have him do it for your team instead of against them.
Jerry Reinsdorf; the undisputed king of allowing his GM's to run amok with unchecked power and ego. :king:

We could use Howard and Rose too.

"Marcelinho" Huertas definitely has some sick handles and vision man.. Against the Crazy USA ball pressure/swarming D he did absolutely great! Didn't look fazed at all and he has some cojones forsure..
12 Assists!!
And only a few turnovers IIRC..

Fran Fraschilla even said during the game he'd take him over J-Lin and all game long kept comparing his passing a bit to Nash lol!

Also agreed I'd absolutely take him over Hinrich! Even in his prime Kurt never showed that type of Vision..

We did well tonight, really liked Huertas.
It's amazing how much better we got after signing this argentinian coach, if everything works out for us, maybe we can aim for the bronze medal.
Never really expected us to beat the USA, even after the first quarter.

Ruben Magnano coach of Brazil now is the legend who led Argentina to GOLD in 2004!
Also was coach of first team ever to beat NBA player led US team during 2002 World Championsips in Indianapolis!
You guys got a good one for sure!
Medalling is definitely on the table for you guys!!
