Why are people saying ATL? They are a lotto team for sure.

Bulls (heat will rest players more than the bulls)
Heat
Pacers
Knicks
Nets
Cavs (if healthy)
Raptors
Wizards

99-104
90-96
88-84
84-89

Were the scores in the playoff series (though the bulls had 1 blowout) vs. a Pacers team with a much, much worse rookie George, no Hill, no West and a much, much worse HIbbert.

A series vs. them would be 50/50 now (with healthy rose). They took the Heat to 7, in what universe aren't they a threat? Not being afraid is one thing, but to dismiss them now is delusional and disrespectful. They went further in the playoffs, and were closer to the finals this year than Rose has ever been.

Bulls need to finish with a top 2 record to avoid a tough 1st round opponent.

When Rose is healthy we match up against Indiana well. I really like 2013-2014 Bulls on paper. The Pacers are a good team, no reason to dismiss them though.

You can't know that. One of the top teams in the east (Miami Chicago Brooklyn Indiana NY) could easily have an injury and end up being a bottom seed.

I really don't know how the seeds will play out with Miami and New Jersey probably cruising for much of the regular season but if I had to rank the East based on who I actually think the top 8 teams are I'd go:

1) Miami
2) Chicago
3) Indiana
4) Brooklyn
5) New York
6) Cleveland
7) Atlanta
8) Detroit

Miami
Chicago
Indiana
Brooklyn
New York
Cleveland
Detroit
Atlanta (depending on rest of moves, but I like the frontcourt of Horford/Millsap)

Bulls
Heat
Pacers
Nets
Knicks
Cavs
Bucks
Pistons

That lower half is REALLY tough, as most of the teams that were lower half last year have almost completely blown up their teams. I have to guess that the Nets will do better than the Knicks and that the Cavs will evenutally come around. I think Milwaukee and Detroit will do enough to get in, although I think you could probably put the Raptors in the mix as well.

Magic/Bobcats/Sixers/Wizards are all wildcards, but I don't think they'll make it.

1. Bulls. Cliff Levingston would like to believe that Thibodeau has learned from playing his guys heavy minutes, but probably not. That means Deng, Butler, Noah and Rose will have logged massive minutes en route to possibly the best record in the league while bringing dead legs to the playoffs.

2. Indiana. Similar to the above, they're just not quite as talented as us as Rose is the best player on either team. They're only a small step behind though, ICLO.

3. Miami. They'll cruise through the season coming off two championships and 3 finals appearances the last 3 years. They know that their seed won't really matter.

4. New York. Small step back, in seeding anyway.

5. Brooklyn. Old team, and coming off last season, Jason Kidd will probably know the value of resting those old legs for the playoffs.

Edit: totally forgot about Cleveland:

6. Cleveland. Added Bennett with the 1st overall pick and Bynum. Kyrie another year old. They'll be decent.

7. Washington. The Wizards are on the right track, played well with Wall last year and added a really nice 3 in Otto Porter.

8. Milwaukee. They're stuck in NBA hell and will be fodder for us in the first round.

I like the list just with switching Miami and Indiana.

1) Miami
2) Chicago
3) Indiana
4) Brooklyn
5) New York
6) Cleveland

7 & 8) Washington / Detroit / Atlanta / Toronto

If Nene can come into the season healthy and fit and find some of his old mojo I think Washington will be on Cleveland's level...John Wall is a star PG, but not necessarily a star scoring guard (like Rose and Irving); Nene and Seraphin can be athletic front court finishers though that can get the best out of Wall...then they have defensive/utility-type wing rotation with Ariza and Porter...they need Beal to take a big step forward as a reliable and efficient perimeter scorer. They could be a new Denver Nuggets high-octane offense that would be a challenge in the playoffs.

I really like what Detroit's done. I expect Monroe and Drummond to turn into something really scary. They won't get past the first round in the playoffs with Josh Smith, but he'll take over enough games to really affect their overall wins. Then grabbing Billups was great; take the pressure of point off Knight occasionally (I think if they figure out how to use Knight correctly he could take of too).
