8 does sound like a reach for Dougie McBuckets. And what would we have to give up for this?

Everything.

Then not worth it. Stauskas at 12 will suffice.

Man IMO that's a bust, Bulls worked magic with picks under 20 and now have 2 picks over 20. I think that's amazing for them in a deep draft wtf is wrong with them.

Further hearing this sucks because then there's nothing truly in the Affalo and Melo front.

Trading Taj for the opportunity to draft McDermott would be an unmitigated disaster.

Somehow, McDermott has become criminally underrated. He put up great numbers when entire teams were focused on stopping him. Imagine what he could do as a 3rd option on a team.

McDermott doesn't really fit with Carmelo or Love.

We say high, but if the Bulls have identified Doug as the BPA, 8 is where it has to happen. No chance Doug falls outside the top ten.

Hell, Vonleh too.

And you JUST gotta go with one of those instead.

Would rather have any of those guys over McDermott, except Gordon. Too much of a Tyrus vibe. I could see Staukas being there for the taking. That's my guy
Just a must-watch army of possessed ass-kickers laying the smack down night after night after night. People are gonna hate playing the Bulls this year.

I for one think McDermott has a better outlook than Stauskas.

He definitely fits the mold of what the Bulls like. But if you get Melo then what is the point of him? Play Melo at the 4 and have McDermott shoot?
That would be some very ugly defense. Noah is good, but damn man. Give him a chance to play his own man and not have to cover up for 2 guys.

We need athleticism and defense as well as shooting. If we are going up to #8-#12 we need more than just a shooter.

As I have said several times on this board, I much prefer Stauskas if we move up in the draft. I also believe Nik is worthy of a #8 pick, and thought I'm a Taj fan, if it's this move that gets you Stauskas and Melo, I'm OK with it.

I can understand how Stauskas can match up with shooting guards in the league, perhaps the weakest position in the NBA right now. But how is McDermott going to guard the LeBrons, Durants, and (possibly) Melos in the league right now?

This was top-class material here. Love the Bulls board for this very reason!

Stauskas isn't a tweener and can handle the ball pretty well. Both have their issues on defense but I will take Stauskas all day and his potential over McDermott.

Yikes, it could truly blow up in our face if we trade both picks for McDermott. I'm really not a fan of this, though I love hearing how active we are right now.

There's a strong possibility we could end up with Joel Embiid here. If we can get him, that'd be worth all this risk. It'd even be worth trading Taj for. How interesting would our future be if we end up with Embiid, Saric (at 16), and Mirotic all for 2015/2016?

On defense, McDermott will have to guard a 4 on most nights. He's too slow and lacks the athleticism needed to keep up with the modern NBA 3's.
Team defense will help but he is not going to be able to check most of the 3's in the league and while he will have issues with size at the 4 he will likely have far less match up problems there than at the 3.
Even though LeBron, Carmelo, Durant play the 4 at times.

http://nbadraft.net/players/doug-mcdermott

NBAdraft.net player comps for Stauskas is Jason Kapono and McBuckets is Wally Szczerbiak.

Wally over Kapono all day.

But still, I don't feel comfortable with either at 8.

This isn't good either. Again, I much prefer Stauskas' potential in guarding 2s than McDermott's potential at guarding NBA forwards.

Would have been a lot easier if we had just kept Tank Commander Teague and avoided Augustin. Yea I went there.
