Well in Europe the line is like in College. To me the biggest difference is that NBA game has been looking more and more like the classic yougo/greek game (albeit faster and with bigger, stronger, more talented guys) : less dribbling, the ball moves without the player and the player moves without the ball, etc... There has been a convergence of sorts.

Oops, I thought college was shorter. College line is pretty short. If that's the international line, I retract my suggestion to use that one. Although now that I think about it, the college length is good for the college game. So, never mind I guess. :o

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basketball ... point_line The college line is a bit closer. Both are closer than the NBA three.

Rubio was an uncommonly prepared rookie. His PER is barely higher today than during his first year.

I think the transition from CBB to the NBA is way more difficult for players because of the differences in the shot clocks. NCAA ball is so much slower that players have a lot more time to achieve perfect position and shooting form. If a player like McD has had 4 years of muscle memory at a certain tempo then adapting that muscle memory to a much faster tempo can be quite an issue. I think that is why sometimes he is too fast and sometimes he looks slow.

All of a sudden a player has to set-up faster, aim faster and release much faster on the shot. Similar problems with defense in obtaining and holding the correct floor position. I think this is why our young college background players struggle. Their entire rhythm for the game is off and all of that previous conditioning can be a hinderance. The 4year college players have a whole lot of conditioning at that slower tempo.

While Euro ball is also different it is not as far away from the NBA as college ball is, which allows the Euro players an easier adaptation process. I also agree with the Euro leagues being professionals leagues that Euro players are more prepared for the professional environment of the NBA.
