OK, that was some nice back and forth about the Bulls offense - wasn't expecting that! This is why I still check in here every now and then :)

Our **** offense was definitely one of the main reasons why we had such a disappointing season. Had we known how to score more consistently, we would've been one of these teams gearing up in Orlando or even holding/fighting for the 7th/8th spot, even with the uber aggressive pick and roll blitzing defense.

We shouldn't have been a bottom 5 offensive team with all these so-called "one way" guys we have. We love to harp on how guys like Lauri, Zach, and Coby are bad defenders and only play one side of the court, but really if only they could score, or if only they had gotten a real floor general who can get guys organized offensively, or had a system that put players in position to succeed...

The OP video is unnecessarily harsh, but in my opinion, not that far off the mark. Before I retired, I was a HR exec for a top ad agency. I was often asked to evaluate general characteristics of potential candidates for leadership positions. One of the key things I was looking for was whether a candidate was smart...functionally intellectual. IMO, Boylen isn't smart. He has all kinds of great experience, but that doesn't make him smart. He has great positive energy, but that doesn't make him smart. When you put someone who isn't smart in a position of leadership, those who are expected to follow are going to be lost. This is whay Boylen needs to go.
Until the actual truth is more important to you than what you believe, you will never recognize the truth.

Did you ever get a sense when looking at candidates, who the politicians, smarmy back-stabbers and yes-men were? Obviously one would try to avoid them, but... some get through.

It's not talked about so much, but that actually seems to be the biggest problem with Boylen. It's one thing to not be good at your job, but if you aren't great at your job but a good guy, people will often overlook it.

Like, we could imagine a different world in which a more self-aware, less ambitious, and less political Boylen contents himself to be a loyal assistant to Hoiberg, doesn't take the opportunity to criticize him, and doesn't beclown himself doing things like sending an open letter "welcoming" AK to the Bulls org.

That Boylen might have maintained his reputation as a solid assistant, kept Hoiberg going through the year, and come out looking pretty good. No, he wouldn't have been a head coach probably, but he probably would be in a better off position.
