One of the more peculiar things about moving from the US to the UK is that print media and physical media still exist.

It's funny how SI as a brand still resonates so strongly in my head, but they haven't had meaningful content in probably 20+ years?

No different from Sears or KMart in retail, the publishing industry changed, there was nobody at SI or their various owners who could get off the track from the 1970-80's when sales at newsstands and subscriptions were the way to go and they got left behind.

Perhaps they have, but who buys magazines? If the tree falls in the wood nobody these days is around to see it.

SI was big in the 90s but as the 2000s started going they started dying. Don't think I seen them being sold in stores anymore.

I used to love magazines and I used to love finding super cool ones. At my local record shop I used to get VICE when it was free.

Rest in peace, old friend. Reading SI was an experience back in the day. That sucker was thick, too, over 100 pages sometimes as I remember, or am I exaggerating? Great writing, great pics, just a great read. It had a certain feel to it, a certain look, even a certain smell, I swear. I wasn't rich enough to get a subscription when I was in high school/college, but it was just a great mag. Sad day... the 20th century I grew up in a few minutes ago feels it might as well be the 1800s sometimes.
More importantly, can I still call a phone number and get a football phone?

I can't decide if I'm crazy - was it over 200 pages at one point? Can't be. Half ads, but still.

Sporting News was the absolute best! The only thing I looked forward to more were the monthly Beckett price guides.
Sigh...

Not with films! Here is the 2023 list, based on ticket sales -
1) Barbie - A movie about a toy
2) Super Mario Bros - video game
3) Spiderman: Across the Spider Verse - comic book
4) Guardians of the Galaxy - comic book
5) Oppenheimer - bio
6) The Little Mermaid - remake of a fairy tale
7) Avatar: The Way of the Water - sequel
8) Ant-Man and the Wasp - comic book
9) John Wick 4 - a sequel to a sequel to a sequel
10) Sound of Freedom - Original content? Really?
LOL
Shocking (perhaps) but the only one I've watched so far is wick 4, which I did enjoy. Oppenheimer is on my list once it drops off PPV status.
